It is with a heavy heart I announce the passing, as a result of a sudden heart attack of Tony Manders, sole proprietor of Regency Florists in London Ont. Although he was not a member of this forum, Tony Manders was very active in the floral community in London and North America. Tony was part of the seven member London Florist Association. Tony was well known by his customers and friends for his many workshops and his willingness to lend a hand to many local charities.Tony was also a sponsor of an orphanage in Vietnam, which he took his holidays every year and went to visit. He would always return with pictures of the children and of the changes he was able to make with his donations. Always willing to lend a hand to those who were less fortunate, and also willing to help out his fellow florist. Such a sudden passing, we will all miss him. I just thought there may be a few people that had met Tony over the years here and they might like to know.

I am in Shock.
When did this happen?
Tony was one of a kind, and I loved him dearly.
Any info on the visitation ?
Please do let us know if you have any more information.
Thanks.
Joanne

Oh my God Missy... I have no words.

I heard this news, up in Buckhorn,Ontario, of all places, from a past florist shop owner that had great admiration for Tony..actually, I'm a little shocked at Tony's passing...he was a "forever" kinda guy!!

There is still no information in the Free Press as of this morning. The long weekend, coupled with travel plans for overseas family is likely the reason for the delay.

There are plans for a Memorial Service on Friday. It should be finalized for the paper soon. Most of his family is in Holland so there is a delay in things due to to travel etc. I will post as soon as I have firm details

Unfortunately, I cannot get away. The drive is about 9 or 10 hours each way, so I'll have to miss the memorial.
But he'll stay with me forever.
Hard to forget a strong, opinionated, Dutchman, party guy like Tony.( And I'm Dutch, so it's not an insult, believe me, just the happy truth.)
Instead, I'll toast him, (more than once) with some good Dutch gin, just as they would in Holland. And I encourage anyone else who can't make the service, but wants to honour him, to do the same.
Let's raise a glass to Tony.
Hopefully he's got a room with a view in heaven, filled with lots of beautiful flowers.,
Joanne
