I have a "friend" I've known for about 20 years who is a S.O. in prison right now for molesting his step daughter a bunch of times (15 or 20 counts).

Of course he "didn't do it" yet he pled guilty!!!

I know this guy fairly well and he told me if he fought he was gonna get 5 years if he lost, so he pled guilty and guess what he got.

drum roll.........


63 Months.

Plus the stigma of being a registered Sex Offender forever.

If you didn't do it.....


you're NOT gonna plead guilty and you are NOT gonna make a financial settlement (pay off) rather than prove your innocence.

and that's the name of that tune.


It's really sad this man is a roll model for SO many young kids. I'm glad my son is too young to even know who it is.

I took in a kid a while back that had been molested by her stepfather. She was with me for a year, but finally had to find a foster family that was home more--I thought she needed more "parental" oversight, and I work all the time. She was a friend of my youngest daughter, and was always at my house anyway. Well, dumb me--I thought if we loved her and protected her, she would have a better life. She was 16 when I got her. The State found her what I was promised a great environment, with both parents at home all the time, that could spend real time with her. She had to go to court and tell stories about her stepfather. He got 80 years, which wasn't enough. So, I'm thinking: finally this kid's life will improve. Wrong! She gets pregnant. Who is the father? The great "family man" who was her foster father!!! Geez.....

That's sickening , that "Step Father " should get the same 80 years , I am the step father to 2 girls , would die for them , same as I would for my 3 girls. Hate to see someone in need of structure and a safe enviroment to heal and grow being victomized again by her protectors. Hope that this poor child can recover from this double whammee and put her life together and have some sort of normal adulthood. Is she keeping the baby or putting it up for adoption?

Sloan, I don't even know what to say. I know you did your very best and then for someone to do this horrible deed to a child....

The sad thing is that it is often too late by the time a responsible adult finds out what is happening. The thing a lot of people don't understand is that children do not tell for a variety of reasons known only to the child. That is why so many get away with this act.

This kind of behavior usually comes out many, many years after it has happened. It will manifest itself through their actions until the point when they are able to relate their expeience, if ever.

Unfortunately, my church is undergoing something similar. Our former youth minister confessed to participating in and encouraging sexual acts with some of the young males in our youth group......showing them porn....and even allowing them to drive his car without a license. All this happened at his home.
Thankfully, the board of elders discovered this and removed the man from his duties before he was arrested. Some of the same people in the youth group that he was messing around with came forward and exposed him.
The scary thing is....We have a policy to check all our pastors and leaders with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division ( SLED ), the FBI, and do a background check. He had no previous record of activities.

The PA Attorney General's office sent an officer to do a program on child predators and intenet safety for the parents at my daughters' school. It was eye opening.

Never let your teen or preteen have a computer in an area of your home that you are not frequently walking through. Best places, kitchen, home office, family room.... never in their bedrooms.

This figure posted below is ONLY the registered sex offenders on MySpace that used their real name. Can you imagine how many more their are that use a fictitious profile??


90000 Predators Removed from MySpace

In case you didn't think predators were still lurking on social networking sites, guess again. According to the Associated Press, 90,000 sexual predators have been identified and removed from the popular social networking site, MySpace.
If you recall, attorneys general from around the country united last year in a combined effort to make social networking sites safer by using a variety of methods. One method was to remove sexual predators from the sites.
MySpace currently has over 130 million users. The amount of predators actually removed from the site was about double what the MySpace estimate was.

All I can think about when i hear these stories is the " To Catch a Preditor" that Dateline did. Unreal how many men showed up, so fast that while they were arresting them out back the new arrivals were coming in the front door.
Amazing. Some driving for hours.
I truly believe the internet age has manifested and excellerated this behavior.
As with every remarkable invention or improvement comes the bad side.
Even though everyone is supposed to be so educated on this and it's exposure is everywhere, it doesn't seem to stop it.

I feel very ill and sad reading this post, as some who has taken in many children over the years, and Sometimes it is not the best to send back to there real family or even some foster family, it just kills me, as one that I had who came to us when she was 5 the older girls loved her, it was so sad what this child had went through, as a single female at the time, and when it came to being her real mother and the courts gave her back to her real father, three days later she passed, and that judge is no longer on the bench, it kills me to this day, and so blessed that one of my girls is now an attorney who helps children with this issue, that they are in charge the other one is a child psych , so she helps them bunches, which, the third is a maxifiallary surgeon, I am truley blessed with three of the best children, it was hard for me, but when someone shows up on your door step,. you can't turn them away, it is a sad world we live in, and so so sad. Two of them have a great relation ship with there real mother, the other was not so lucky to have that, But its all good. So blessed that I have this business to be able to help them as well as others, who need it,

The part that most people don't understand is that pedophiles are not caught because no one tells on them. Just look what happened in the Catholic church....it took years before the adult children started telling of their experiences with the priests.

The pedophiles are so cunning that they make sure the child does not mention what they are doing to anyone. There are hundreds of reasons a child doesn't tell. So, to think that just because no one filed a claim about molestion certainly doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

What about children molested by their Fathers.....of course, that child is so confused that he will not tell anyone, even the Mother. You would not believe the amount of incest that happens. We just can't afford to hide our heads in the sand.

Yes, she is keeping the baby. This kid had so many problems. When I first got her, she had called two local schools with bomb threats. Two felonies. For a 16 year old. I got the courts to give her to me and put her on probation. She was so screwed up, she was always getting into some kind of trouble, especially since I wasn't always there. Bad thing was, she started getting my own daughter in trouble as well, and that created a problem.

Her stepfather actually thought he was going to walk on this. The Jailer is my neighbor, and he said that going TO the court that final day SF was pretty cocky, but driving BACK FROM court he was bawling. Apparently, when get gets to prison, his life will be very much like his stepdaughter's has been all these years. He he...........

Sad to read this but it happens daily. These people that mess with the young look like every one else, that they don't wear signs, they are your church goers, next door neighbors, teachers! Keep your children close and when my girls were young.... where they be I be.
I have grandchildren now, I have told their moms that God has given them a great task of keeping their children safe.Never take if for granted and just trust any one with your child( so grandma or papa babysits).
I kept an open conversation(daily) with my girls and their friends about good hugs and bad ones, thankfully our house hold was and still is open to what ever needs to be spoken or ask about. I was raised that you never spoke about sex or anything of the sort. My parents thought I was crazy to speak to my girls in plan facts, hey you got a question we answered best we could or found the answer for you.
And people wonder whats wrong with the kids today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bloomz, my feathers are still ruffled on this subject. Yea, some of these guys are real mens men, make good buddies and all. We just never know what happens behind closed doors.The system is in place, if the facts weren't there he wouldn't be in jail.
Years ago the system wasn't in place to protect the children.It hurts kids that tell the truth when a kid thinks they can spread a lie about an adult. The truth comes out in the end, hopefully.
This is one of the worst kept secrets by the young.

Can you imagine what it was like for kids before the advent of internet and open communications? I'm sad to say that many of my girlfriends were molested as kids by people in their own families. Geez.

It's so very sad what happened to that girl.Predators are everywhere and never misss an opportunity.
PC or not I think they should go to jail and stay there for good .At least we know some are off the streets.
There does'nt appear to be any treatment that works for them so I cant see any other answer.

I had to go to court for a year ( to put my robber in jail) and sit for hours and heard so many cases go before the judge that had to do with children it would make you sick. 6 of 10 cases were violence toward a miner or a Butt Head pulling his pants down at a Mall or school parking lot.
A fine and probation is what many got. My husband and I would turn and look at each other with disbelief. A few lived in or near our town. Better yet I went to school with 2 of them!

I can think of a suitable punishment........although it does not compare to what awaits them in God's judgement - He say's it is better to be drowned in the sea with a millstone round ones neck than to harm one of these little ones.

In the meantime.....I say castrate them......and put them on an island alright......filled with all kinds of traps and retiles, poison spiders, and all kinds of things.

I forgot to mention. Equally alarming is that there were only 70 parents in attendance at this program (some of these were husband and wife, some just one parent). There are about 700 students in my kids elementary school. Pathetic.

And the officer was THRILLED with the turnout. This was considered a good # in attendance in comparison to past programs at other schools.
