my son just got back from a road trip through the Yukon, up into Alaska, and had an interesting story to tell...
Seem that he and his radio personality girlfriend, were looking for that 'special" place to take pictures, that "nobody" has seen before, and while driving one of the secondary coastal roads, noticed a dirt track down to a secluded beach with "beautiful views, and pristine beach area (so he thought), so, with his trusty Dodge 4x4 pick em up, and adventursome girlfriend, headed down the long, winding hill, to "the beach"
Jason and Lex didn't get 100 into the beach, when his truck started to sink in quicksand.
Another tourist from Sweden, happened to be passing by, and noticed their dilema, and came to their "rescue", on foot, when he TOO, sank up his knees in the quicksand, and became quite frightened.
Jason always has boards in the back of his pick, so, laid them out, to reach the "trapped" Swede, and dragged him up and out of the sucking sand, and into the back of the pickup.
I guess their yelling for help, caught the attention of some more passersby, and most of them being "locals" already KNEW what they must do, and alerted the highway patrol, who in turn, contacted service vehicles, to do a "rescue", and managed to winch them up almost 450 feet.
Turns out, there WERE signs indicating the quicksand, and it was surmised that some "kids" had removed the signs, for "laffs"
