A little over a year ago my step-niece who lives in Canada and is 13 years old collapsed on the soccer field. A brain tumor was found, it was benign she underwent a operation to remove it, all went fine and she was back playing her favorite sport in 7 weeks.

Maybe 3 months ago she started to have some visual problems. The tumor had returned. They scheduled her for immediate surgery. She suffered a stroke during the surgery and it was discovered that this time the tumor was malignant, they were not able to remove all of it. She has been recovering nicely from the stroke, can now walk almost normal, but she still suffers from weakness in her arm.

She has been undergoing Chemo and radiation and while originally it look very promising for her, we received some really bad news that the last scan has revealed that the cancer has spread to her spine. It does not look good!

Please keep Zoe, her parents, grandparents and her 16 year sister in your thoughts and prayers. We need a miracle here!

I have attached a picture of sweet Zoe for you to see. Zoe is the dark hair child in the pic.

Please, even if you have never prayed for anything in your life, I ask that you say a prayer for Zoe.

I'm so sorry to hear about Zoe, life is so unfair. I'm sending up a prayer for her and the family.
Stay strong - miracles have been known to happen.

Ah Joan... I'm so very sorry. Please know we are thinking of Zoe with love and hope for her, her family and friends.

Is she in Ontario?

Hey, Joan,
Thinking about Zoe and her family, and hoping today was a good day for them. Any news?
They are all in my prayers, as are you, while you all struggle through this nightmare.
Be strong. Keep well.

Zoe is on a 2 week break from chemo, she will return to the hospital when her 2 weeks are up to resume treatments. She only goes home from the hospital on Sat. and Sun. which is very hard on her mom and dad as they take turns staying the night with her. She has lost all of her hair and has finally succumb to the wearing the wig she said she would never wear. She has been so positive through all of this but with the last news of it being in her spine you can see her faith is wavering some. She is determined to return to school no matter what the outcome. The doctors do not know if that will be possible for her as the Chemo weakens the immune system so much. Thank you for your continues support, thoughts and prayers, she is comforted knowing that there are so many across the country that are praying for her.

I will keep you all posted.

Joan

When I was 6, I was flower girl for my cousin Jim, and his beautiful bride, Linda.
Afet 30 some years of marriage, Linda was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer, and she fought like hell to beat it.
We remained neighbours and best of friends till her death.
One of the many things Linda taught me was how to approach chemo with a strong attitude. I loved it when she lost her hair and refused to wear a wig, even though the loss of her beautiful thick locks of red flowing hair fell out.
Finally, after brushing out more than she or Jim cukld bear, they trew a party, to which we were invited.
There was Linda, laughing, and oartying on, no hair, but a big tub of finger paint. We all blessed her beautiful head by massaging paint onto her head...what a great night for all of us.
Linda lost her battle, but gave up the stigma of no hair...and she did it eith style.
Maybe Zoe would like to fingerpaint her head, with a sleepover and one of her dearest friends.
Prayers continue for Zoe and her parents.
