Many / most of you are probably already familiar with IFD, a self-professed
What troubled me was the lack of professionalism displayed within the emails. Most were one line messages, none were signed - not even with a default signature. To my knowledge, this is the first correspondence I've had with Jeff.
Jeff @ 1:58pm (replying to today's newsletter): I still hate your singon - it [sic] why I never visit
Ryan @ 2:02pm: I'm sorry to hear that. Our registration policy is one of the primary reasons for the quality and integrity of our community. If you're having password trouble, we can help you out.
Jeff @ 2:02pm: Ok that didn't work - make it logical at least sheshhh idiots
Jeff @ 2:03pm: Password please- the page said it was in the email NOT
(FTR the message was that the reset link was in the email - not the password. Emailing a password is very unsecure)
Jeff @ 2:03pm: Even by 5 year old can figure out why some of us don't visit regularly
Jeff @ 2:06pm: Might be but the information communicated can easily be made user friendly! I don’t visit because I have to reset my password everytime I visit! Efficient – I think not!
Ryan @ 2:07pm: Idiots? "Even a 5 yr old" ?? FlowerChat is a forum for professionals - are you sure you really want to participate?
Jeff @ 2:08pm: So do you have to hold your tongue is some unique way as well?
Jeff @ 2:09pm: Great system – I never should of told our members to visit here.
Jeff @ 2:10pm (replied to an automated notice that his account was frozen for 15 min due to too many failed login attempts): Lol ohhh the integrity thing - good bye - top secret information must behind the door
I'm normally not one to air dirty laundry in public - even in a private forum like this. What really bothered me in this case is that Jeff is the Executive Director of an organization purposed with marketing flowers. Additionally, he is the chair of the Business and Economic Trends Committee of SAF, which means he reports (at least indirectly) to a significant number of FC members who are dues-paying SAF supporters.
Am I off-base here and over reacting, or should be be requiring higher standards of professionalism and conduct for those purporting to lead this industry?
Ryan
Executive Director Jeff Lanman emailed me today, having lost his FlowerChat password. In and of itself, that's not a problem. Even though the login form and the weekly newsletter have links to the password reset feature, we still get the occasional email asking for assistance and we're glad to help out.marketing company owned by 24 like-minded floral wholesale distributors focused on the development of marketing opportunities for its members.
