TEEN KILLED IN COLLAPSE - An awning collapsed on two high school seniors jogging down the sidewalk on Halsell Street in Bridgeport yesterday, killing 17-year-old Leslie Denison and seriously injuring 17-year-old Becca Logan. Denison was pronounced dead at the scene and Logan was flown to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. The freak tragedy occurred in front of Club Barbell. A spokesperson for the city of Bridgeport said she doesn't know why the awning fell. Funeral for Denison is pending at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Read the full story in today's Messenger.
