Hello and thank you for answering the questions. For some reason your website isn't coming up for me. Is the address correct?

What inspired you to open a floral business?

Thanks.

Your website apparently not up and running yet?
You state "new business" and "starting up my business" is this because you haven't actually opened yet?

Is your business open Tina?

V

i have not opened yet. I am hoping to open just after new years. i am working on the lease right now. The space will need some paint and counters a cooler and some displays. but over all it should not be to bad to get up and running. i'm very excited and nervous but i really believe we can do this my husband and i are both very hard working and have been working together for the past 6 years. What are your thoughts on wire services and pos systems. I'd appreciate any input on them.

What made you decide on the floral industry Tina?

Thanks for answering by the way. :)

Hate wire services, love POS. If you decide to join a WS DO NOT get their POS. Get a POS that is not connected to the WS so you will be free to quit if you want.

Thanks for the thoughts on wire service. Victoria, I have wanted to own my own business for many years. I started out as a floral designer at jewel foods in Il. i managed a shop for 5 years. Then I went to work for a garden center. I have been the general manager for the last 7 years. My husband was my ast manager and bookkeeper. The owner desided because of the economy he would take over running the business and let myself and my husband go. So I figured if i'm ever going to do it nows the time. The town i am going into has grown alot the last 10 years and does not have a floral shop.

Tina, thank you for answering and welcome to the community. Once you're voted in you'll be able to find all kinds of resources and opinions (some heated) on the virtues (or not) of belonging to a wire service.

I too recommend that if you do join, make sure you have an independent POS.

First of all, In light of the presented information, I'll be casting my vote for admission to FlowerChat.

Secondly, my advice to you Tina.....search out any local or state florist associations and get involved. Additionally, as you progress in building your business, also build your education by seeking out certifications, competitions, and networking with other florists.

Hi Tina, Welcome!! You have picked a great (growing) are to open your shop. Best of luck to you!

If you are really looking for both sides of the wire service debate, get a big bottle of wine, have a seat and type "wire service" in the search bar. Contact us in about a month, once you have finished reading all the info, to let us know what you've decided. Just kidding! There is a ton of great information here.

Great advice Amy. ;) That's not so much of a stretch.

Have I mentioned lately how glad I am to see you back?
