I have a bride who wants "antique Green" hydrengias but doesn't have the budget. I have sprayed hydrengias several times with JUST FOR FLOWERS fresh green color, but has anyone used the regular floral sprays that are not transparent. I was thinking maybe the color "basil" Just wondering what you guys would do.

Don't the antique green also have touches of burgundy or some such color, I think that's what I like about them, the variations that make them look rich. I would try to stick to Just for Flowers as much as possible, since the regular paint is opaque and makes them look painted. You could try a slight touch of the black cherry, I think it is, love that color to add depth without a lot of red.

If I remember right there is an episode on JTV about tinting hydrangeas w/ Just for Flowers. I'm sure it's been archived by now but, you may want to email J and see if it's still available.

Considering the "lawyer" bride news, I think I'd make sure your bride sees and approves ..........

we spray hydrangeas all the time, and we have about every color of JFF available. Usually, its a trial-and-error method. We try to get a swatch of fabric, then "get creative" with the paint. When we get a nice match, we write the "formula" down, and make sure you get the brides approval!

perhaps you could (and this is the tech in me talking) scan the swatch, then look at the RGB levels to figure out what red, green, and blue levels are present...

Sometimes glossy wood tone knocks the color down a bit. Give it a try over your green. Just might do the trick. :)

Wow, thanks for all the great advise. I called Design Master a few minutes ago and she suggested Prairie Grass and highlight with a mix of peacock and black cherry.
I think I just need to do some trial and error.... FYI www.dmcolor.com is redoing their website and by January should have lots of tips and things online.

Depending on your bride.....Another trick you can do is to take already green hydrangeas and lightly brush over that with the basil, then overlay with JFF greentint. That can give you an antiqued effect.

If she doesn't have the budget then use trikilium, or even green bvardia, there is a another flower that looks like mini hydrangea, sorry very long day and can't think straight, also make sure she has no allergies, because of the tinting....also when is the wedding, Or try flyboy, they have some at hardly nothing, as of right now and it will keep.
