Do any of you have any awesome Eggnog drinks, alcoholic or not, you can share them with me?

My 2 year old son, Indie, calls eggnog, Snowman milk.. but he can't quite say it, so he says, - no man mil

He comes running into our room every morning, as our little alarm clock, saying:
- no man mil !
- no man mil !
- no man mil !

MISSSSSSYYY Hook a brutha up!

Wine....now we are talking...I like an assortment of sprirts but when it comes to wine my favourite is an Italian red one....Amarone, but in Canada it is about 45$ a bottle, but when I was in Cali I got one for 15$!!!!!

Oh and I was drinking Cosmopolitans long before the girls on sex in the city made them vogue to drink. Of course I was only drinking them for the medicinal virtues of the cranberry juice!

Ok Brandon, I think...hmmm..maybe you can handle this one. It has been in our family literally for over 80 years..

Sher's knee numbing Eggnog Recipe
2 doz eggs
2 pints of heavy cream
2 c sugar
1 c bourbon or blend
1 c rum
nutmeg

separate eggs...
beat egg whites in a bowl till they peak..make sure beaters are dry...bowl is glass
beat egg yolks in a separate bowl
beat heavy cream in separate bowl till thick
Add whiskey and sugar ( sugar goes in first) to beaten egg yolks
mix them well with beater
Fold whipped cream and yolk whiskey mixture into egg whites gently and sorta slowly until just mixed.
Serve with a sprinkle of nutmeg...
ALWAY dip into the bottom of the bowl when serving to keep well mixed.
DO NOT OPERATE ANY OTHER EQUIPMENT AFTER TWO CUPS..OR WHEN YOU CANNOT FEEL YOUR KNEES OR FACE.FOR REAL.

One year I fixed a turkey for Thanksgiving with a girlfriend as both husbands were away...we got blasted just drinking this stuff alone and burned the turkey to a pile of cinders..we thought it was funny as all get out....thank heavens our kids were also away and we did not have to work at the hospital the next day...anyway, you now have part of my family! Enjoy...
Sher
PS..I was much younger then...now I am a responsible adult....lol

I heard Soy Nog is pretty good and less fattening, I would maybe substitute it for the real deal. But, I just bought a bottle of Cream Sherry last night and had a tiny glass and it was really pretty good. I really only bought it so I could offer it to people when they came over and I could say, "Sherry Niles?" Because I am super corny. Anyway, both Nog and Sherry are good sippers. Sher, I can't imagine the headache you would get the next morning from that much sugar and booze! Dang!

Understand that I do not advocate trying this unless you are willing to take the risk, but since this is the season of sharing.....and Brandon has brought up the subject of liquid merriment....I share with you my favorite recipe for What I call " Homemade Attitude Adjustment "

How to Make Moonshine at Home

Things Needed
  • Water
  • Cornmeal
  • Sugar
  • Yeast
  • Pressure Cooker
  • Copper Tube
  • Vessel (to collect moonshine)
  • Charcoal
Instructions
  • Go to the market and buy 25 pounds of cornmeal, 100 pounds of sugar, 100 gallons of water and 6 ounces of yeast.
  • Next, you will be required to collect the necessary equipments, like a few large pots, a large pressure cooker and a coiled copper pipe.
  • Put water in the pot and place it on stove. Keep on boiling it until it reaches a rolling boil.
  • Add cornmeal to the water. The resultant mixture will be known as mash.
  • Keep aside the mash and let it cool down, till it is warm to the touch.
  • Now, add sugar and yeast to the warm mash.
  • Again, keep it aside and let it ferment for 4 to 5 days.
  • Keep on checking the mash and when it stops bubbling, it means that it is ready. At this stage, the mash is known as sour mash or beer.
  • Put the sour mash into the pressure cooker and keep it on fire, till it goes up to 173 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • At this temperature, the alcohol content of the mixture will start rising to the surface.
  • With the help of a coiled copper pipe, passed through cold water, trap vaporized alcohol in a separate vessel.
  • As the vapors from the cooker pass through the cold copper tubing, they will slowly condense into the liquid called moonshine.
  • Finally, filter the moonshine through charcoal, making it absolutely fit for consumption.

Sounds do-able, Ricky, but I wonder how you do this:

With the help of a coiled copper pipe, passed through cold water, trap vaporized alcohol in a separate vessel.

How do you surround the copper pipe with cold water?

Then again, this will make whisky, right? And I hate whisky. lol

You surround the copper piping by submerging it into a container or barrel of cold water.

Yes, it is homemade whisky....and if you or anyone should try it, remember, It is best when drank fresh made, not aged.

Yes this is very good, but and it is a big but.

Understand that I do not advocate trying this unless you are willing to take the risk, but since this is the season of sharing.....and Brandon has brought up the subject of liquid merriment....I share with you my favorite recipe for What I call " Homemade Attitude Adjustment "

But what do you drink while you are making it???????

I normally don't drink while making this.....understand that it is just for "medicinal" purposes.

Lord, that's way too complicated and involved and frankly requires too dam n much thought and preparation. When I have a need it has to be fairly instant. Corkscrew, or screw cap, pour and sip... or guzzle if the day has generally sucked big time. :)

Red wine... Chilean usually, but I love adventures in so many things, so I try many other countries as well.

V (who absolutely LOATHES eggnog in any form)

I bought 'old crow' bourbon, I'll try it out Sher. :)

Old Crow was the cheap stuff, but I like the name...it reminded of my favorite Blue Grass Band: Old Crow Medicine Show

You are going to love it...it is better than a milkshake...lol....very smooth...not sure about cheap boubon but after two of them...it will be fine! Let me know...once you have made it, you become part of my "family" since you have been given the secret recipe! And no, I won't loan you money just cuz you are a relative....lol
Sher

Ricky,

that sounds like a snuffy smith recipie for corn squeezins"

yuck. I'm just really not much of a drinker. I really tried to be, but I'd rather drink kool aid or orange soda or cream soda or root beer, I'm such a whimp.
Nothing sophisticated about me at all!
