"You don't send me flowers" "white sports coat and a pink carnation" "red roses for a blue Lady" etc... When was the last time there was a music hit that mentioned flowers. There is a grand picture out there. Flowers are being disassociated with every day life. Romance is gone and I don't mean in the "physical/sexual" way, but in the emotional.

A couple off the top of my head:

"Kiss From a Rose" - Seal
"Every Rose has It's Thorn" - Poison

And these songs were from late '80's early '90's. To me just another bit of the puzzle that eats away at our industry growth. Again, just my perceptions.

Since you brought this subject up, I've been keying in on the lyrics on the songs playing on my radio. Just in this short period I heard the word flowers used twice:

"The Way I Are" by Timbaland: "I can't even buy you flowers...". It reached #3 on billboard.

"The Shadow of the Day" by Linkin Park: "Pink cards and flowers on your window..." It reached #15 on billboard

I wonder if the number of 4 letter words negates the floral reference?!?! How many "ho's" neutralizes a positive floral comment?:headbang: Although the old Guns & Roses '80's song doesn't paint any prettier picture!

I have been hired by several show designers over the years to play floral background music during their presentation on the piano.

I have a list of about 150 songs that are about flowers that I can use. If this is useful to anyone, I will try to find my list and type them out when I have some extra time. I'm not sure anyone else would find it useful....but, I would be willing to do it if there is a venue for it.

Probably most of these would not be availabale for the Ipod.

There is a lot of oldies like Tiptoe Through the tulips on through the years. Are you still interested? I just assembled them to perform on the piano during flower presentations as background music.

Let me know your thoughts.
