Ok - several tips come to mind......You can brush the tulip with a mixture of elmers glue and water, You can also do the same with fresh egg whites. You can envelope the bloom with a leaf......such as wrapping a galax leaf into a cone shape around the bloom, Some florists swear by piercing the stem with a pin just below the tulips head.
The prettiest method is the wrapping of the bloom......I first saw a picture of this technique done by Kathie Thomas AIFD......she wrapped the tulip with a galax leaf and the outlined the leaf edge with a length of gold cording. She posted the picture to the AIFD e-forum. This was well over a year ago btw.
Personally, I have had great success with using fresh egg whites.......for Christmas/Winter designs, I will brush flowers with egg white and then dip/sprinkle/cover them with sugar.....for an iced/frosty look. I'll do that for most any fairly sturdy flower.....looks incredible done with roses. The main reason for using sugar and egg white is that it is edible......that way if little mouths decide to 'taste' the flowers........no harm done.
