Saw something during the Cowboys/Redskins game yesterday, Turducken. From what I gather you stuff a chicken inside a duck and then stuff that inside a turkey? Why? I couldn't come up with any plausible reason why someone would maul and then eat this, it looked utterly gross .To our American friends I ask the question how long a tradition has this been and do you take part in this? It gives a new meaning to the phrase "Get Stuffed"

Hmmmmm

Not that one, but when I roast a Pig, I put chicken and duck in there, along with fruit, vegis and spices...

ALL very good in the end...the duck helps keep the pig moist, as does the fruit...not much left of the fruit when your done....

We had a @@@@ big bird yesterday, but there is no way you could fit a duck inside the thing...

Dead bird

Theoretically, the birds that are used as stuffing are supposed to be DEBONED.

thanks for the clarification as to the deboned birds....you can only imgine the picture it gives to not know exactly what you have here.....even deboned thats a lot of foul.....couldn't we throw in a cornish hen or quail or two just to make it REALLY interesting.....it could be turduckenishqua....and the beat goes on

Grats on the Member....

Back when I was a student, I worked in a few restaurants. It's a hellish industry at times and I don't miss it - but I did learn a lot. A fully deboned chicken isn't that big, neither is a duck. I've seen all manner of stuffed bird - everything from sausage to duck to cornbread stuffing with turnips and veggies.

Nope, never heard of that one! Sounds really gross, must of been the redskins side that thought this one up. Because we do have some weird things in Texas, but that is unheard of at least where I'm at. Now we do put a strip of bacon around a ribeye and grill it. The tradition that we use is cornbread stuffing with a whole onion stuffed in the turkey. Oh and broccoli with cheese stuffed in a boneless/skinless breast of chicken.
Did Emeril think this up or what?

It's better than it sounds

You can actually buy it here at Walmart (in Louisiana), and is actually pretty good, the meat is deboned and stuffed. Very juicy and usually cooked on the grill and/or smoked. I'm not a big duck eater, but you can eat the turkey without eating the stuffing. Terri
