So FTD called and said "If you're not open Sunday, turn off your Mercury"...

What the heck, don't they look at codifications???

Can't they do like Bloomnet does, and make it an opt in with a General Message? (Ooops, I forgot they still run on antiquated technology)...

I say, why wait til Sunday, turn them off now... LOL

Anyone else get this call?

Did not get that call we will be open 10-2 on Sunday but you can bet mercury will be suspended as we will only be doing redeliveries and some very local phone deliveries as we will run with small staff

only call was someone wanting to know if we were delivering on Sunday (from FTD)... They were told no.
And yes my mercury is off for a good reason - .com orders. Have had 4 orders from them in the past week, bad phone numbers (disconnected), product not available wait for their answer question......reject because I'm not waiting to find out their answer hours later. One order, asked for pink sprays for Monday, told them I wouldn't have them until Tuesday could sub large roses (cube), customer wanted sprays - wait and deliver on Tues but THEY would not change the delivery date, which would make a del confirmation late - benefit them?? Nope!
I think my merc will remain down and have my rep take the codification out of the book :)

We're open 11a-5p every Sunday, 8a-5p for Mother's Day. Several years back we had them put a block on virtually all .com orders so we don't even get them. An occasional Int'l Order but nothing under $75-$80. They call and I tell them to #!@(&! off, well maybe not that exactly but they get the message.

I said 'd.a.m.n' to a Teleflora retention department employee when we quit and got written up for a 901 (or something like that) infraction. They could hear me laughing all the way in Redondo Beach or Tulsa or where ever.

Speaking of antiquated technology, why can't FTD look in their database at your published minimums plus your delivery charge and not send orders to you that fall below the minimum.

Wait ... I think I know. The $$$$ to reject those orders. You gotta make a buck (literally) any place you can. Maybe it's not so antiquated after all.

Oh come on people... FTD and TF have been asking people to suspend their computers if your not open for literally years. If you do not suspend and are not open and a dumbass florist sends you and order then the order sits there, never gets filled and the customer and recipients suffer for it. If you won't be open or you won't be delivering suspend your computer for your fellow florist, if no one else.

Why the heck do we bother putting all this stuff in the directory if they can't retrieve it?

They've sucked up our Mercury or Dove fees for years and not made the common sense changes in the software that would help eliminate orders that must be rejected or forwarded in the first place. The only change I've seen to the Mecury Direct software in 5 years was a 'revenue enhancement' - they sell dumbass florists ads to display on my screen.

Most of the florists here hopefully have a clue and I would hope it is assumed that unless otherwise verified, most florists are closed on Sundays - even Mother's Day. And I would hope that all florists would use 'old school' technology - in other words pickup the phone and call - on Saturday to see:

  • What is my product availability?
  • Can I still deliver?
Part of me says don't bother with the suspend because who will suffer the most are the Order Gathers that promise the world - Just Flowers, SayYou, Kay's, Honest and other the slime.
