Renee (flowerchat's mcf) just spent nearly an hour discussing the economy's recent impact on the floral industry and predictions for the upcoming Valentine's Day with reporter Laura Whitley for ABC Houston (Channel 13 news). The coverage is suppose to be on tonight at 6:00 PM for those who are interested.

.

Ohhh I'm interested, but don't think my "rabbit ears" will grab it...

Houston...we have a problem ;)

Cool - is there online access to the interview afterward? I'd love to see it!

I am interested too but the Houston signal does not reach the north pole of Vermont. With all that appears to be going on with the world stock markets in the last 24 hours things are not going to get better any time soon I am afraid.

Can it be pulled from an internet TV provider ?????

Well, I made the news, but there's not anything on the web site yet.

It was a doom and gloom piece on the poor economy. I didn't know this when I was interviewed, but the reporter asked me a great deal about it.

There was no way I was going on camera speaking negatively about flower prices increasing, flowers not being affordable, or floral purchases decreasing. I was the only upbeat part of the segment predicting "a strong 2008" for the floral industry and a great VD holiday.

I hate to be a PollyAnna, but... a positive outlook always helps (especially if you have a realistic game plan ready).

Good for you Renee. I'm sick of the news. Whether it's true that we are headed for a recession or not I'm not heading my business in that direction or using it as a crutch. I'm a far cry from being a Pollyanna but I'm not a dweller of the negative either. I believe in the quote "if you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all". It's really about how people perceive you. We're here to sell emotion and with the Vday holiday upon us I pushing for Happy Emotion.
I do have a realistic game plan and it's to sell all the flowers I have preordered!

We've just returned from LA gift show. Although vendors were down in the temporaries the permanent showrooms were full and busy writing orders. If we hadn't made an appointment we had to wait to write. I saw this as a very positive for the industry. The only thing I notice as having a substanial increase in cost were wreaths. Didn't matter what company, they were all very expensive. We ordered lot of new product and I'm looking forward to a great 2008.

Good to be positive, always. The press always has away of showcasing the worst. I suppose if they didn't, we wouldn't watch so much.

I hope there's a link for the finished piece - keep us posted!
