I have been watching the Twitter webinar that Ryan posted about a few weeks back. Oh my. My head is spinning. I can't believe how huge this is becoming for business. I never realized. I thought it was all about celebrities telling their fans they were drinking coffee. Man was I wrong. One more thing for us all to do!

In case anyone wants to follow me, my twitter name is: pioneerwholesal. I am going to try to tweet about weekly specials and stuff. (We'll see if I can really implement all that is in my head!)

Proud to be the first florist to use twitter over a year ago. twitter.com/florist. - I suck because I didn't take /flowers :( but I did get friendfeed.com/flowers

micro blogging > blogging

pioneerwholesale don't be frustrated if a lot of people don't start following you, give it time and a reason to follow you. Do a search here on FC for twitter and look at some of the stuff I did.

Twitter is good for crowd sourcing too. I couldn't find a rose plant that put off green roses. I started spending too much time looking. So I crowd sourced it on twitter. (Letting the masses solve my problem). The winner got some free chocolate and I saved a lot of time. The lady who won directed me to some place back east and ended up ordering more chocolate when she came in.

I have done several contests and got back some good responses... like name this flower, get free truffles. And don't turn it into an obvious advertisement channel... say fun stuff too like... drinking coffee before I head into work in my underoos thinking of the new green roses coming into today.

Social networking is the future of our customers. Don't think of it as one more thing you HAVE to do, but one more tool you can use to be successful. Evolve.

Also, get your webdesigner to add your twitter feed to your front page.. customers like it, it markets your twitter so they start to follow you and Google likes it.

No, I am very excited about all of this stuff. Just don't have the hours in the day to do it all properly. But hoping I can get some help...

As for the web designer... I am it, for the front part of the website. The shopping cart portion of the site is unfortunately handled by a wonderful accounting system that made a horrible e-business module and makes me not want to admit to having anything to do with the website. But that is a whole another story. Yes, i need to figure out how to get my blog, and my twitter feed on the front page. Its on the to do list!

I went to school for web design 10 years ago. Which might as well have been a century ago. I am going to back to school to update my skills for all of these sorts of things.

- Once you get it up, it takes anywhere from 15 sec to 1 min to tweet. I do it only a few times a week. :)

GL Sarah :)

They said in the seminar today you should do it 9-11 times per day for business use. Really, I don't think I do anything interesting enough to tweet 9-11 times per day. Maybe I just need to become more interesting. :)

Thanks Dazeal

9 to 11 times a day??? No do not do that.

How to annoy those who follow you: tweet 9-11 times a day. lol

If you think can give your target market value 9-11 times a day, then I guess that would work. But it is my opinion to spam your followers like that is a quick way for your followers to un-follow you.

Hi guys... we were using it at mothers day to contact people directly at the exact time they were wondering what to get their mum for mothers day!!!

Its bloody massive... we would have someone on it full time if we could!!!

Check us out at http://twitter.com/trrs

P.S Is there a thread for all twitter uses to add to!!!!

Do we have a thread for all the twitterers can add there twit account to????

We're twit'n now too. Just type in chezbloom. I really don't know what the heck i'm doing though! Sometimes I just post pics of what we've made that day, or other somewhat floral related things. I don't get why some tweeters have lots of followers but they rarely tweet anything. Not celebritys but just random tweeters. I don't quite get it.:spin

You can follow me at /florist.

Twitter, a mico blog, like I have said for a long time is awesome. It's better than facebook, myspace or a blog when it comes to marketing imo.

Want control of Generation Next? Screw FB/MS, go twitter! And the good news to all you techno challenged people.... it's easier than FB/MS or a blog.

Brand your twitter! And hint to florists, don't abuse your tweets with advertising, it's a quit way to get un-followed. Do games, contests, quirky info that is going on at the shop, something special at the shop (not necessarily for sale) or something educational... like Proflowers = el oh el in a Box (no I have never done that, but I did tweet a couple weeks ago about how silly flowers in a box from the UPS guy is)

Here is our business cards:
