Two moons on the 27th of August*

*27th of August the Whole World is waiting for...........*

Planet Mars will be the brightest in the night sky starting in August,
it will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye.

This will culminate on Aug. 27 when Mars comes within 34.65M miles of earth.
Be sure to watch the sky on Aug. 27 12:30 a.m. It will look like the earth has 2 moons. The next time Mars may come this close is in 2287.

I heard this last year and the year before. I believe this might be an urban legend...Sorry,,,,

OK - got my telescope ready! My son is REALLY into the planets...we saw Saturn a few months ago after a show at a planetarium...very cool...cold see the rings and everything.

Will be lookin'!

yes you did, and it was a preliminary article leading UP to THIS year's Aug 27th
 
No hoax here in Elliot Lake/
If I have my say there will be 2 "full moons"
One in the sky the other on earth!!!!!!

Like I said before....I think it is a hoax. But it sure would be fun. You can read about this urban legend here. Someone tell me if they think I am wrong.

Funny, that was the two moons I thought this would be referring to when I looked at the thread title. Guess MY Mars is rising ......
