Well here I am in Shanghai, China. Weather is great. Food is dicey.

For Lunch my Chinese friends took me to KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken is one of our customers...and they are very big in China). I thought I ordered Chicken Stips for about $5. What I got was 4 small chicken wings. No wonder people seem thin here.

But tonight was really special. They took me to the finest Chinese resturarant in Shangai. Very pretty place. First course was Chicken Feet, meal also included Duck Feet. The raw garlic cloves with soy sauce was really nice; bet that I smell sweet tomorrow. I think what really blew me away was the "steamed fish head" complete with eyeballs. I wasn't going to wimp out, I ate some of all of it. Occaisionally, I had to just swallow quickly. No wonder people seem thin here in China. Luckily, there were some Pringles Potato Chips and a Chocolate bar in the hotel room.

I am staying at the Shanghai Millenium Hotel - which is a pretty classy joint. I am attaching some floral pics from the lobby. The coolest one is the revolving doors.....they have a sections in the revolving door which have beautiful fresh floral arrangements....I think they are Jasmine.....they match the large arrangement in the lobby. Anyway, when you get in the revolving door, the flowers revolve with you...in front and in back. Pretty cool I thought. I also like the simple bowls with flowers in them.

If I see any more good stuff, I'll post.

All the best,

PS. Bloomz was it tea cups you wanted me to look for?

Oh have such fun!! I LOVE the pic with the revolving doors...how clever is that! Thanks for the pictures...its so inspirational when you see things differently and people are always very clever. Enjoy yourself and stick to eating things you know....like cats and dogs hahahaha

Thanks for the update Mike,

That Jasmine sure looks like Illinois Forsythia.

Hey, why don't you start importing some of those cool bowls in the third pic! Those look pretty coooooooollllllllllllllll...................

LOL Was thinking the same thing. :) (We paid $15/bu for 5 stems bu last weekend. ugh)

Mike - Thanks for the live reporting. A couple friends of ours swear a trip to China is better than Jenny Craig or NurtiSysyems. Can't wait for the report about the McChicken Feet.

Response to Joe etal.

I don't know anything about Illinois Forsynthia...is that a type of Jasmine, or are you pulling my leg?

I thought the bowls were cool too, mainly because I think I could actually make an arrangement in them. There is a little bowl inside the big bowl with the daisies in it; there is water in both the big and little bowl....it really is a cool effect and as simple as can be. Could be great at a wedding or event. I am truly hopeful to find a glass factory.

Cathy, Yes....the diet here is interesting....who knows what I'll have for lunch....bird nest, shark fin, or jellyfish....ewwww. Luckily, I've got a good store of fat on me to tide me over for the next ten days.

All the best,

Food and Shanghai Delivery Vehicle

Lunch was interesting again today....another fish with the head on it, some green stuff that looked like spinach..but wasn't as good as spinach; the best part was the Chinese Pork Dumplings...they were a life saver. I am getting better with chop sticks....but who wants to eat kernal corn with chop sticks? That is harder than trying to stuff a wet noodle up a wildcat's a$$.

Now for you florists who are out there scrubbing buckets and whatever; and think life is not a picnic....here's one for ya. Check out the delivery vehicle below and try and imagine driving this thing on the busiest road you have ever seen in your life. I took this picture out of the window of our car. Oh my.

All the best,

Well, I'm trying to lose some weight. That should help to lose a few pounds...what do you think?
