I know I can sometimes be "hey look what I did" But this time it really paid off...

My photos were not recoverable from my computer. I have never been more angry with hubby.

But then being the troubleshooter that I am, I began to think, and then, think some more.

I figured out a way to get most of my photos that I have either posted here or on facebook.
Once I collect them all, (and it will take a long time) I will burn them on a CD.

I got a new computer, hubby is NOT allowed to even touch it!
I think he totally broke the other computer...That will be 2 computers in about 4 years! He hasent been able to figure out how to fix the old one yet. And I figured it will cost more to take it to some one that just to buy a new one. He pretty much only uses the computer to surf the web, Oh and also he likes to break them!

The new computer I bought was way cheap. Only $250.
It had vista pre loaded in it.
I think I may give him this computer and then I will buy me another one with the new Windows program. Sounds like a good idea to me!

Anyway, I learned 3 valuable lessons.
#1. Don't let hubby touch my computer
#2. Always back up your stuff off your computer.
#3. Going to prison isn't worth killing husband,,,Try and contol temper!

get a usb removable hard drive to do your automated backups -- and never worry again...

also I am willing to bet a good many of these images were in your temp files from your browsers???

Well, I had a friend who always used to tell me " You know, I woke up with a severe headache this morning........but then He got dressed and went to work and I was fine then"

Just a recommendation...

A standalone external hard drive is worth the cost to avoid trouble... simply copy things twice, or set it up to mirror your internal one...

Mikey?

I myself use one of those Western Digital Passport USB drives for backup.

If I need the info, I just unplug from the USB port and go.

So this is the thing.... I'm pretty computer illiterate.
Is there a website I can go to to learn (for free) some of the stuff y'all are talking about?

SHannon,
You pretty hard on your husband for something that could have been avoided by yourself in doing a back up disk, or USB drive etc.

We talk and talk on here on important is to save documents on a regular basis.

I say you owe your husband an apology for your part of the problem.

Gentleman, Stand behind me in UNITY!
Luc

Uh, Luc,

You don't know the WHOLE situation. I didn't disclose the WHOLE situation. I feel NO reason to disclose the WHOLE situation to you, or anyone really.
If he kept his grubby hands off MY computer, I wouldn't have had a problem.
It's a long story and I feel no reason to justify his near death to you!

Any woman who has ever had to deal with a thick headed husband or man KNOWS what I am talking about!

He owes me an apology for touching MY STUFF! YES- MINE MINE MINE!!!
And he did. He knew he was wrong.
I don't touch his crap! He shouldn't touch mine!

He's LUCKY I forgave him!

Wow so much hostility!

When you post something on here expect coment back. good or bad!

If you want to keep it private than do not post!

Hope you have a good day!

GEEEZ! Did you think POSSIBLY Shannan had a bit of humor going on there?
She just wanted to get it off of her chest...she said she forgave him and
she hinted at her love for him...She was joking at really hurting him.
Sometimes you can read something and not get the real emotion with it
and it sounds like something it isn't.
She admitted that she needed to do backups and learn more about
computers. She was upset with her mate, but, COME ON, she was just
venting!

You didn't have to lay into her. IMO, Luc, your post was "hostile", toward
Shannon.
She was just venting with her friends.

backing up photos

So glad to hear you recovered your photos. We learned our lesson about backing up photos the hard way. At our house, my husband knows a lot more about the computer than I do, so he's backing everything up weekly.

I'd love to see some new Shannon photos!

http://www.wdc.com/en/products/Products.asp?DriveID=762

Get some thing like this that will lay flat on your PC... (better thant the book style units)

This comes pre-formatted so you do not have to format the drive -- just plug it in... it should come with some backing up utility to set up automated backups daily

There are different versions of them at amazon...

I use the 500's

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=WD+Elements+Desktop&x=10&y=12

I always format mine fat32 regardless of what they say when I get them... (more useful in long run - files can be read by other types of computer Operating Systems - Mac - Linux and differnet versions of Windows)

If you need help -- PM me...

Just plug in, format and you are ready to go!
