Sunday the heat index was 100 degrees here... My cooler went down, and then my air conditioning. The shop has been 98 degrees, my employees are absolutely miserable. My tech geek installed my line for DSL on Monday and charged me $159.00, today I find out I was given the wrong information by Verizon and my DSL provider, I should not have had to pay for a IT guy to do the job, it was their responsibility. Can any more go wrong??

So today my DSL was installed after a long wait, hey! Tonight the air conditioning was fixed and tomorrow I get Floristware installed, can't wait. The week is looking up already.

Wish me luck, I think I'm gonna need it!

Your week sounds very familiar to me. I didn't have AC at home for over 10 days over 98 most days here in GA, the days I didn't have AC. couldn't sleep it was so hot. the warranty guy said he needed to get a part & that I needed to pay him $100 to clean the unit & he would return on WED, 2 days later. He didn't show up til I called warranty co. on Fri to let them know he didn't return or call. finally came on SAT, didn't put a part on it, I cleaned the unit myself by going to Lowe's & bought coil cleaner. He said he tightened something on it, but I never saw him do a thing to it. He hooked up freon tank for about 5 seconds & that was it. 10 days w/o AC because he was a jerk!!! I was a mechanic in the military, so I watched him. I don't know why men think women are so dumb! I have my cooler being put in the new location & I had to break up a fight between him on the contractor building out my store. The landlord just called me & said my cooler guys were pounding on the walls & it knocked something & broke something on the wall in the jewelry store next door. I don't know how that could have happened when nothing on the cooler is mounted to the wall, it is a freestanding unit, right next to the wall, but definitely not anchored to it. I told her I'd like to know the time it happened, because the contractors were there working before my cooler guy & they would have been doing something on the walls like building them. Needless to say, they are her contractors. I talked to the phone co. to set up my move of service & now they are telling me I cannot keep my phone #. I told them they are crazy & they better figure a way for that to happen. I think I am going to move to another provider. They told me it would take 30 days to get DSL. Charter comm. said they could have my phone lines & DSL hooked up next week for same price & free install. I think my old company is going to get a letter of cancellation from me tomorrow. Just need to figure out how to get my ph #. Someone told me Vonage would be able to keep my number, anyone have any ideas???? I have never tried their service... So you are not alone... :)

LUCK< LUCK< LUCK< LUCK and more LUCK your way Joan .

OK,
I have a great "darkest days before the storm" story.

Last fall, before moving my shop, the heavens above decided I needed some trail and tribulation. I had to fire a driver that had worked for me for over 6 years. His attitude had deteriorated and threw a fit or two.
At two, I was done.

I asked a lovely elderly gentleman that had been a long term customer to fill in until I could find another driver. Mr Fabian is in his middle seventies, but is as spry and physically fit as any 40 year old.

He was doing great. After about two weeks, I was in my office and felt a huge boom. Mr Fabian had gotten his foot caught under the floor mat of the car and crashed right through the side window front of the shop - less than 3 feet where I was sitting. A wall post stopped the vehicle.
I saw my life flashing before me. After I stopped shaking, I felt sorry for Mr Fabian.

The next driver did great for about 3 weeks. He was a real estate agent looking for extra work. He was quick, polite, and efficient.
One Friday afternoon, my daughter answered the phone. After a minute, she said, "Mom, you better get this". The man on the phone was yelling at me that my driver was violating his church. He was relieving himself in one of the doorways of the Catholic Church. I stood there with my mouth open - did not know what to say. I apologized. I really didn't know what to say - quite the feat for me. Then, the church's secretary called. She told me the driver was welcomed to use their restrooms. I didn't know what to say. My daughter immediately went to the church with a bottle of chlorox and a flower arrangement for the secretary. When the driver returned to the shop, he said, "Guess I made a bad judgement call". Ya think. I, of course fired him immediately, told him I had no choice. Who would do such a thing??? I still can't believe it.

I figured things had to look up. And it did.

I have AC, but also flood through my ceiling because of dripping(way understatement) pips. It's Sunny and 100+ degrees outside and in the middle of my showroom is pouring AC rain with orange home depot buckets everywhere. I tried crying but was so dehydrated and no tear came out, so I took my 2 sons, watched TV, ate icecream, and had a great time. Problems can wait, life can not.

Joan,

Our walk-in cooler has been unable to maintain a steady temperature of 40 or less for several days because of the heat. We have discovered a place that was not installed properly, and someone is supposed to come today to repair that. He was supposed to have come Monday. He was supposed to have come Tuesday.

Our air conditioner went out yesterday, and the refrigeration company cannot come out until Friday. We cut off as many lights as we could. In fact, our tenants worked from the light from their computers. We opened the two outside doors, trying to take advantage of any breeze. We had to close early, and are bringing box fans to at least move the hot air around.

No one had better say, "What else can go wrong!"

:buttwiggl

Would you buy a house from that guy?

Me, not so much...

Ok so I thought today would be better... Went into work and the air conditioning that was suppose to be working now, was not. It was suppose to be my day off but I wanted to get FW installed. My mother came in and wanted me to take her down to her house which we are getting ready to sell. I get ready to leave, walk into my small walk in cooler and that is now reading 60 degrees. WTF another call to refrigeration! The air is not fixed and now my other cooler is down.
5 hours cleaning at my mothers and then home... I get home and my 15 year old greets me at the door with, "Mom the air conditioning in my room is out and it is covered in a 1/2" of ice that is now starting to melt on the floor.
I really couldn't deal with much more so I went shopping with my daughter and bought summer clothes!! I feel better now.
Maybe, just maybe tomorrow will be better??

Thank you to all who sent luck and good wishes, but it didn't work, at least not yet.
