Vertical Garden!

Are you talking about making a small version of this in a low dish or something? Could you use chickenwire to fashion a flat rectangular enclosure, then line one side with moss, then soil, then plant through the wire, then surround plants with more moss?... kind of like they do with hanging baskets? Then stand it up in something, wire it in place (like they wire bonsai into its dish). Then surround base with pebbles or something?

That sounds cool Beth! But I am thinking of trying to actually put something on the wall. I have an insanely small space and am trying to pull out all the stops of creativity (if that sentence even makes sense, not much sleep) and maximize every square inch of wall, ceiling, etc. :>

Are you wanting this to be in your Interior? If so, then I might try this......You are no dowbt familiar with the window box miniature garden.

Make up a series of window boxes ( with some type of directable drainage - like a plastic hose running from the drain holes ) and mount them near your ceiling....use an extendable waterer to reach them, plant them with all vining and cascading plants.

( I'll do a 3D representation to give you an idea of what I am talking about and post it soon )

Added the representation

Ah, shoot! The link will not open for me. It says, no input file specified.

Martha did it

There was one on Martha Stewart. Living Walls by Elevated Landscape Technologies. Really cool, kind of pricey.

Living walls are becoming quite the thing in "green" buildings. Besides being beautiful, they act as air filters. I recently saw a stunning one, 2-storeys high, that filters all the air within a large church.

Here's a link that describes how they work: http://www.manhattanplant.com/NewYorkLivingWall.html

As an interior designer, I was designing a hot yoga studio that was going to have one (which made the florista half of me very excited). Unfortunately, the project got cancelled.
