Just found out this morning that Bad Bobby's in Midland for a golf tourney...

Plan to see him later today....

Besides his Harley dealership, he's running a new company www.gcaservices.com

Tell him the "magic"left the building when he did. Hate him or love him, you knew when he was around and I don't think he thought we "were the stupidest group of people in any industry" like the current admn does. .
Hope he has some good games....

Tell Bob Mikey misses him as well...he was tough, he was candid, he was a gauntlet, and he was a friend

want to give him a copy of my letter of termination from FTD. Seems most of the NorthEast has a copy!!

Was easier when the enemy had his face in front , but do I miss him , hell no, very glad he F'ED off when he did , only wish he had gone sooner.

Tell him Honda's rule.

Yea

Yea, tell him he screwed up the entire industry.

What's nice to see is a guy that screwed so many is loved so much. But again, it's florists

Hey Mark, you can tell him from me that, he turned out to be NO GENERAL PATTON in my book.

After that, I'm still wondering how his BI POLAR DISORDER is going and what meds, if any, might've finally worked for him.

Is This The Same Guy

After reading this string of posts I get the impression that Big Bob is being missed. I don't know BUT,

Isn't this the guy that raised fees from $40.00 a month to $249.00 a month?

Isn't this the guy that shipped Branded product, even if you didn't order it?

Isn't this the guy that said "Pick a Team", then kept changing the rules so that you never knew which side you were on?

Isn't this the guy that raised every fee FTD ever had, created new ones, and then put roadblocks on technology?

Isn't this the guy that was very open about the fact he really didn't need the majority of florists who belonged to his wire service?

So if this is the same guy, why do I get the feeling that many florists miss him? I hope everyone knows that the new guy who took his place is very open too. He has made it perfectly clear that FTD does not view florists as it's primary concern and has openly stated that he is taking the company in the direction of mass marketers, yet florists still stay because they hope things will change. Will everyone get misty eyed when the present leader of FTD takes his millions of dollars and leaves.

Sfox,

I was being "ironical", but considering the current leadership.... well.... aaa....

Since i am out of F.T.D., it has become a side show.

Did that guy, actually think he had the mettle make up of Patton?

The highlight of my month was reading his idiotic "orders" or directives and other Horse @@@@ that he spread on his "troups".

Ditto.

That said it all.

And isn't this the guy who routinely fired anyone who dared challenge him by thinking for themselves?

And isn't this the guy who insisted on surrounding himself with mindless "yes men" who had to be professional "butt kissers" to succeed with him?

And isn't one of the above clones who was created by him currently running things?

So what's changed since he was in charge? It's still his policies.

I'm pretty sure the perspective depends on if folks were in the inner circle of the screwer or they were the screwees. ;)

At the risk of re-igniting disagreements from long, long ago, IMO local florists screwed up the industry.

It was our failure to support the companies that DID NOT compete against us at the time - forcing the sale of FTD when the equity owed members fell below the value of the company.

Wooed by rebates, the order volume moved to companies that did no national marketing and were in bed big time with 1-800.

And then the old FTDA - our team - crafted a sale agreement that was later thrown out by the DOJ for being anti-competitive. That wasn't Perry's or Bob's fault - it was ours.

Bob did what he was hired to do. Soenen's doing what he's hired to do. Both are fiercely competitive, ruthless when necessary, and know what perqs work where (even temporarily) to gain key allegiances.

It's just business.

It's just business.

While you're absolutely right about how the FTD florists screwed themselves . . . and you're probably right about both he and Soenen doing exactly what they were hired to do . . .

It's NOT "just business". HE ACTUALLY SCREWED PEOPLE ! ! !

Unless you choose to call his myriad of retroactive fees and charges, unordered shipments which he tried to hold florists responsible for, and numerous other stunts "JUST BUSINESS".

If so, you probably buy into the "new age" definition of "what sex isn't", too.

Sometimes I think florists must have the shortest memories in the world.

And . . . oh yeah . . . I did NOT vote for the buyout.

VIllageman

Are you all talking about "little Bob" the one that almost single handed destroyed "ftd". When I talked to him In Charlotte and told him he was crazy he didn't agree with me,but what I told him has come to pass even though he is gone, thank goodness, maybe some others will soon be.
