Just announced this evening, Strider Inc. has been awarded the Grand Prize in the annual Bruce Clay Charity SEO Contest.

We partnered with The Elisha Foundation and have committed to donating SEO services for one year to promote their site. TEF's mission is to help families with disabled children. Their approach is geared toward the whole family, giving parents rest and encouragement, special support for non-disabled syblings and of course special care and treatment for the disabled children. TEF also has a program assisting military personnel disabled in conflict.

Jim and I feel very strongly that this organization is worth supporting and we're thrilled that our proposal was selected.

As grand prize winners, we'll be off to SES NY in March, then down to Simi Valley, CA to Bruce Clay HQ for a week in April.

Cathy,

If you can give the directions I can find the time ... I've no clue about the LA area. Last time I was there was before I could drive!

I'll ask about the work for TF - that would be funny :)

Congrats buddy.....

BTW... I know this little group of Real Florists that seem to have this uncanny ability to raise the PR of various "causes" when they set their mind to it.... ;)

Ryan, congratulations on all you and the Strider team have achieved to help the Elisha Foundation realize its mission to help families with special needs children. You've clearly put a lot of thought and work into this volunteer project.

Lisa Barone is right. Sometimes it does seem the spammers and cheaters are winning and that the shady tactics get the most applause in the SEO community. Her reflection on your article speaks volumes about your integrity and hers.

Something else that always attracted me to SEO was the reasons people had for first getting involved. It was always by chance and never because of the money or "fame". People dedicated their time to learning about getting sites ranked because they had a fire behind them to succeed. They were working for a cause that needed visibility, they needed to bring awareness to an illness, they were trying to get their small mom and pop shop out of the red, etc. There was always a story that revolved around helping other people or bettering their own situation. Back in the day, people SEOd sites with a passion. It was inspiring to watch and listen to the stories. It had been awhile since I heard a really good one. Until Ryan's.

Ryan's article reminded me why I developed a love for search engine optimization - because of the ability it gives you to help really worthy sites succeed and to do good. SEO has never been about getting a crappy site to rank. It's about helping quality sites, sites like The Elisha Foundation to improve accessibility, attract a larger audience and extend their bottom line so they can continue the important work that they do.

Again, congratulations and thanks for letting us know about these two terrific posts. :)

Congratulations Ryan and Jim!
It is proven that when you love what you do, it shows in your work.

It also shows what is in your hearts Ryan and Jim.
Best wishes on more achievements in the future.
