Okay, so I was checking my website on domaintools.com and in the server data section where is says "Blacklist Status" it used to say "Clear" it now says "Currently Listed".

What in the world does this mean?! I have never sent out unsolicited emails or anything of that nature so I have no idea where this would come from.

Here are the details:
http://www.domaintools.com/rbl/?ip=68.142.212.40

and the SORBS detail:
Netblock: 68.142.212.0/24 (68.142.212.0-68.142.212.255)

Can anyone make heads or tails of this? I really would like to get this fixed ASAP. Thanks!!

After much research I have figured out that SORBS blacklists blocks of ISPs and not just individual ones. My website was not blacklisted...just the ISP address associated with my site. That still still stinks because my emails were showing up in some SPAM folders instead of email addresses.

I contacted SORBS and, fingers crossed, this is all straightened out.

PS- If you have a yahoo hosted account and you have this happen to you don't even bother contacting yahoo...they are no help.

This is the risk of using a shared hosting service. They are cheaper, which makes them attractive for small businesses - and spammers looking for throw-away accounts.

It's important to know if a host you are considering has any clients that are banned, and what their policy on the matter is. It's always advisable to have a unique IP - usually about $2-5 / mo.

You are very right. It's kind of one of those "If I knew then what I know now" type things and it stinks. Anyone can fall "victim" to this and I am continually checking the status of the removal. Chances are it's going to be a long road to get it removed but, it can be re-listed if an IP close to mine gets flagged again.

Yahoo has no policy...therefore I am going to be transferring my IP over to rkfcomputers with my other two sites. Do I have an option to get a unique IP with you Ryan?

Thanks!

Absolutely, you do. An unique IP is a requirement for an SSL certificate that allows a business to conduct secure transactions online.

If you have an existing site you can transfer it to be hosted by RKF, or we can arrange a new site design for you.

Thanks!

Lol, too much blood, sweat and tears in my current website to trash it and redo but, I am going to transfer ASAP :)
