Inspired by Melanie, http://www.plattsburghflowermarket.com/, who I am totally IMPRESSED by, I decided I'd better update our own website. I spent the afternoon working on it.

Perhaps this thread can be a place where we can view each other's efforts and make constructive comments and inspire each other to GROW!

Please review our site and tell me what you think (I'm a DIYer too). We are progressing forward to provide our own shopping cart....just not yet! http://www.summerlandflowersandgifts.com/index.html

Thank you!

Sincerely,
Dorothy

Very nice clean work Dorothy!

Suggestion...how about moving the Valentines Day reminder to the top where the Vitamin F text is??

Also, maybe put (flowers) out beside the Vitamin F (flowers), so anyone skimming the home page doesn't think your selling vitamins.

Again, an Excellent job...really nicer than the TF site I think.

The shop is to die for, so bright and modern.

Carolyn:)

Thanks all for your comments/suggestions.

Twiggy - I'm on the right, my daughter, Jasmine on the left. This old photo will be updated after another bridal show in Feb.

Carolyn - Yes, the Valentine's Reminder will go on top and the flower graphic by Vitamin F is a Great Idea!

FYI: the guestbook isn't working properly yet. Host site is working on it. I just spent two days learning .html codes and it turned out I did it right but something is wrong at host site. LOL

I like the map with the X saying we are here. pretty neat

I'll be inserting an actual google map so that users can click on it and zoom in and out. I had to change our physical address first with the google directory. And I'm still trying to get our updated address in the Yahoo directory. Google is much more user-friendly I have to say.

Looking good!!!!!!

I just redid mine quickly because I had accidentally cancelled my hosting, duh! So I know I need to add pics of my own work and wanna get a cute pic of me and the hubster on there for the about page. Any other input welcome! I'll do the same possibly tomorrow when I have time. :)

Nice start Robin. Too bad you had to rush to redo it. Where's your new logo???

1. Home button missing on other pages.
2. Personally, I've got that over 40 thing happening with my eyes so white text on black background isn't so good for me.
3. Like the use of forms - I'm planning to use this too. I think we need to keep the user/consumer in mind though and most people are very protective of private information so....need to find a way to get information respectful of that and with a privacy policy I think.

Hey Dorothy my car is warming up so I have a few minutes.

1. Thanks, will fix that.
2. Will have to think about that, maybe enlarge the text? Or maybe just make lighter bg... hmmmm.
3. Good ideas.

Thanks for the input! Didn't go w/any of the logos, decided to use the stylized font for a while. May change it up at some point but couldn't find a logo I liked.

Hey Carolyn,

Made the changes you suggested :) Thanks!

Dorothy, it looks great, and I like the YouTube part.

Do you have that spoken info written on any pages, you know because crawlers can't hear or read pictures. Or do you have Alt Text for that video? Some here know way more than me on this.

I was going to say that some text at the map, saying perhaps something like we are located conveniently at the cross roads of___ and ___. Drop by and say hello, we'd love to see you, etc. But will wait and see what you do with the Google map.

Can't remember, but do you have any links to your reviews?

Incoming links hold more weight, but out going are good too. Eric Shaw has a page with ton's of customer review, or he used to, actually on the site.

Great Job!

Hi Carolyn,

I can't add Alt Text to the video in the web program I used to build the site, but I guess what I could do is put an image of the video in the video's place, alt text that and add a link to the YouTube video. However, I have Alt Text on the flower/arrow/headline image now to go to Youtube, so that should work?

I don't have the guestbook working yet. Does anyone have html code I try? I need 1. form code and 2. view code

The template for the form I tried, again in the program I'm using, isn't working properly. It will put the form in, ppl can sign it, but for some reason it isn't posting the comments to the hidden page I have it pointing to. I've asked for assistance with this (from my host) and did what they said: delete it all and recreate it - they said there was a bug somewhere - but that didn't work either. When I choose "Email" comments, I can get them that way and then I could post the comments, but I don't really want to do that. I'd rather delete posts than add them myself, if that makes any sense?

Google map is next. I'll see if I can add text above it - it's part of the template. I like your idea of adding text there.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions!

HTML help

I've added a banner ad link to our website using "Site Add-ons" in Site Delux (freeyellow.com) and chose to "Add Own Html". I inserted the following code that I was provided with but I can't get the thing to center on the page. I've tried adding align="center" right after width and height, but it didn't work. Anyone have any insight?

Here's the code:

<a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=Yh2Bb1D4wHc&offerid=139359.10000415&type=4&subid=0"><IMG alt="Valentine's Day Sale - Save An Extra 20% + Free Shipping! COUPON CODE: SVDAY" border="0" src="http://www.ice.com/media/ice/external_images/affiliate/coupons_728x90.jpg"></a><IMG border="0" width="1" height="1" src="http://ad.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/show?id=Yh2Bb1D4wHc&bids=139359.10000415&type=4&subid=0">

Put the align code in the first IMG tag after border. The second IMG tag is for a single-pixel "image" probably for tracking purposes (I'm guessing).

Edit: sorry, I misunderstood what you are trying to do. If you want to center an image, <center> is the easiest I think. I don't think align=center works in <IMG>, as align within IMG is for text alignment relative to the image (old fashioned way).
