I'm in the process of creating a table/chart documenting the floral website fees of various vendors for the purpose of posting it on floristseowatch.com (perhaps this has been done already?)

In that regard, I was wondering if I could get some of you to post here the fees of your website vendor/host.

For example:

FTD FOL website: $99 a month; $3.45 per order.

Your help would be much appreciated. Just need to know the monthly cost and the per order fee. -Thanks

Media99

Media99 $ 35 per month, $1.50 an order

thanks for doing a new one.

Lots of variables when charting.
Does your website offer:
**a checkout function easy for the customer?
**easy to upgrade and update immediately or do you have to submit changes and wait for someone else to do it?
**how much time per week does your website take me?
etc etc etc

bunches more that others I am sure will add.

bloomz, for $0 you get a cart and checkout? Credit card vendor? Take all the credit cards?

compare apples to apples....

Here's a chart we started building a few months ago. As much as possible, we tried to keep to posted rates, since we all know WS rates can vary a lot for special customers and those with old agreements.

If there are any additional values we should track and compate, please suggest them.

Same as Bloomz, but I use a form. So $0 online CC fees. Shopping cart has it's advantages I know. :)

Home grown applez I guess.

My cart cost a $400 one time purchase.

now all I pay is my hosting plan which is cheep cheep cheep - so cheep I have 3 plans from the same company. The biz one has 250 Gigs of space - I am using I think 180 megs - for $9.95 a month. It can process multiple orders per second, not that I have need for it.

Just showing the other side of the spectrum I guess.....

If I had it to do again I would olook seriously at one of the open source carts like zencart, but I'm already integrated with MAS, so I'm happy as a clam where I am.

(I clear my credit cards thru my POS with FTD by the way and yes we take them all)

Yet lest I make it sound simple or easy - no, it's not simple - and I think likely not for the faint of heart. YOu gotta be a bit of a geek.

It's important to clarify as well that there is more involved in the monthly cost than just the hosting, which amounts to a fraction of the monthly fee. Included in the monthly fee for a non-home-grown platform are support, training, development, and more.

The monthly and per order costs you have listed for Media99 are incorrect. I pay $35 per month, and $1.50 per order.

I think some fee per order is a good thing. Back in the days when I was with Sunflower Productions, they only charged a monthly fee. I got the feeling that he wasn't getting enough money in to continue to improve and upgrade his product.

With the modest fee I pay per order to Media99, it is to their advantage to work with me to get as many orders in as possible. That makes a big difference.

If your credit card processing is being handled through the website/shopping cart system, would it help to also add the credit card "discount rate" to the chart? I never realized the great variation possible in discount rates until my friend started selling credit card processing services. For some people that is handled separately, but for some it is part of the website/shopping cart service.

Sarah,

Most shopping cart systems will interface with a variety of payment systems: Authorize.Net, PayPal and 2Checkout are a few of the more popular ones.

As such, the only time a CC clearing rate is tied to the website is when the web provider (ex: FTD, TF) is also doing the clearing. Otherwise, you have unlimited options.

I know this is so off topic, but I didn't want to start a new thread.. the new tweet feed in the heading of our posts is SWEEEEEET! TY Ryan!
