I an having a wedding open Day at the shop next Sunday. We will have a local Wedding Car company put a vintage car out front, which i will probably decorate ! Also will turn our back workroom into a showroom for wedding bouquets, buttonholes, table centres etc. I will do balloon structures and cake decorations!
We are advertising in the local newspaper and sent invitations to exsisting brides. My question is............out of all the designs we make for weddings, what would you prioritize to showcase to the brides?? Im trying to make a list of designs , ready for my flower order !! All ideas welcome !

Tracy if i were you i would do some of the stunning designs that are in the Liz Cowling wedding books, there are some gorgeous twiggy structures. I personally like handtieds with all small flowers, very pretty looking and then an ivy structure. (i can see it in my mind but cant describe very well).

Also pommanders seem to be coming back around again so maybe a funky look for these, i like them covered in ivy leaves with diamante touches and a flower spray on the top.

Wrist corsages is another one, one of the fcers here did a thread, Cherrie it was and there were some stunning designs that you could maybe look at.

Anyway, i will shut up and let the others suggest some stuff...

Judging from my wedding consultations - the bridal bouquet is the foremost design on my customer's mind. Next, the Maid's bouquets. I'd show a smaller Maid's bouquet next to the bride's so they can understand size difference and how the Maid's bouquet is meant to enhance and not compete.

Agree with Palms - I'm seeing a lot of requests for pomanders - especially as chair (pew) decor.

I'd show a sample of your aisle runner. Typically my brides shy away until I show them the cloth runner. Then it's a great ad-on.

Next, my brides are worried about centerpieces. They all want something different yet classic. HA! I'd show talls and lows, classic and modern in price ranges suitable for your clientele.

My brides are never concerned with altar pieces - just that they have them.

I'd have an area for "extra details" - designs that are add-ons that you can make money from i.e. ring bearer pillow, halo's, fairy wands, bride & groom chair decor, etc...

Hope this helps a bit. :)

I think for me,, I would probablt do 3-4 bridal style bouquests, same with maids,
and 2 table set up with linens, flowers, etc...I would probably showcase color not flowers, and coridante it all together so that things were interchangeable, and not so many choices.
For the budget brides I might also have a preplanned wedding package, so that they can see you offer that also...you know for 200 Pounds you get the following.
Good Luck!

Full size Mirror

I have used a full length mirror suspended from one of my Wedding Arches. That way the Bride can see how she looks holding the Bridal bokas. It's very cute to see how shy they are at first. Then before you know it, they want to see how they look with every single boka you have. Many change their minds about the style they THOUGHT that they wanted. Try it...it's fun!

We tried this at our bridal show last fall and the gals liked it a lot, thanks for the suggestion Twila!

When we do a bridal show we try to do something huge in fresh to knock their socks off and also do a prop, something that is big and showy as well, impress the heck out of them at first look. After that we show them the bridal bouquets and all the detail work.
