Our designers book and price up their own wedding. Its hard sometimes to estimate the price of flowers 9 months out from the wedding date. Does anyone have anyone comprehensive list of flowers and prices that reflect the prices in and out of seasons? I'm trying to come up with a tool that would help and be a little more accurate.

I don't think there is "a list" out there. I think your wholesaler can give you a low end to high end price for a given flower and I usually go with the higher end - you can always come down if you have to; it's not good business to raise the price after quoting. Hope that helps!

I have a wedding price list that i refer to and the flowers are priced at their highest. This means that throughout the year, sometimes you make a great profit and others not massive but its still there. So i would have a price for a shower bouquet with roses lillies etc, then one with calla, then ht with the same etc etc hope this makes sense :walking:

We needed a set price list of cost of fresh for everyday use from our wholesalers and when asked for one they provided a copy that they go by, most of them had one readily available that they faxed us. It's not a seasonal one by any means and with prices rising on everything, no one can guarantee the prices 9 months from now. It did help us out tho when we had to try and average it all out. The lists also didn't include specialty color carns or local grown stuff like grasses, etc.

Pricing on the high end is a good suggestion and making sure your staff knows the standing price of most items. Had a girl pricing out items way under value because she "assumed" they were a certain price, from like 1990.

When I was on the retail side of this business, I created a chart, listing flowers and month, with their average price. This would show at a glance seasonal and holiday variations.(Mango callas costing $2-3.00 in June, can easily be $6-8.00 in October /November) I would also save weekly price lists from my suppliers to help fill in any blanks my chart my have. I have a number of customers work their wedding price lists in the same manner. One of the biggest challenges we face today is the devaluation of the dollar, parrot tulips from Holland you paid 10.00 per bu a year ago , can cost 15.00 today. World economics is now as big a factor in our business and its pricing, as is fuel and freight costs.....these all come after the cost to grow the product.

Typically when we get requests for pricing for something that far out we let them know that it is impossible to give accurate pricing that far in advance, that we can quote the wedding using anticpiated pricing and will confirm pricing closer to the wedding.
