ummmmm.....
the people are friendly, the roads through Quebec AWFUL, the highway system in NB, MUCH IMPROVED, the drive down in a van AND U-HAUL, 17 1/2 hours STRAIGHT, unload the boxes, have a sleepover, drive 15 1/2 back straight...roads in QUEBEC, still awful, get home somewhere around 6:30 am, get an hour and a half of sleep, go into the shop, Sandie is BUSY, therefore MIKEY is busy...work late after our closing, get another hour and a half, go to nieces stag and doe party, come home, get a call early Sunday am....cottage destroyed in a fire!!
I'm beat, Sandie is beat tired!!

cottage was sold, closing date this Thursday, we had decided to take Sunday and Monday off, go up, and finish getting our stuff out of the cottage, meeting with the lawyer this morning at 9:00 am.....wouldn't be able to both of us be there otherwise!!
It's REALLY scary to think, that HAD we left the stag and doe a little earlier, we probably would have driven up.
I'll tell you a little later, about the bravery of one of my close neighbours....you WON'T believe it!!

I am sorry Mikey on the oss of this cottage. I hope you were still insured and I know you probably won't get as much as you sold it for, but I do hope that at least your loss will be covered.
Maybe this is a situation in disguise for you to rebuilt ont he same lot your dream cottage.

As Luc said, we hope things work out OK for you with insurance and either rebuilding or selling the property on its own!
Cottage fires are scary stuff ... my Father in Law dealt with two neighbour's cottage fires on 2 consecutive weekends. Two more cottages on the lake are still being rebuilt from previous years' fires.

I wasn't planning on even HAVING....
a cottage this year, or maybe next, unless the right one came along, and THIS, I DON'T need!!
Kinda figured on getting our house FINALLY re-done, post MIL, and getting the other half rented...THEN, maybe look seriously at another northern home!!
The place we have...was our "starter" we did pretty well on the sale, and were kinda looking around for another, BUT, the prices have just skyrocketed for waterfront property, and we were looking at "water access" properties, BUT, finally, Sandie and I discussed that it would be best, to just get the sale out of the way, pay off a credit card, and then get finished around here!!
We have a busy summer as it is....just as well, the place sold when it did!!
Some POSITIVE news...the deal STILL should close on Thursday, hopefully, and we'll just turn the insurance proceeds over to the new purchasers, and THEY can do the building project...We REALLY don't have the time this year!!
