Well, it's official! Buffie and I are pregnant! We are so excited and looking forward to our first child.

We are due the end of May, and hired a new full time designer who was laid off from another local florist to manage the shop while Buff is out of commission for a few months and to free up Buffie to lay the groundwork for another great year at the shop.

Any and all advice is welcome! (Baby, Owner/Mother, or other) :)

Ah, the pitter-patter of little petals!! Congratulations, you must be sooo excited !
My only advice is enjoy the ride, listen to all the advice but go on your instincts since they are usually right.

I am so happy for you.
I have a soft spot for babies..., no not just babies, kids. Every time I see one, or if I'm lucky enugh to hold one, I wish I was lucky enough to have more.
Advise? Count your blessing everyday, even when you want to strangle him/her/or yourself because you are so tired...or behind time, or aggravated, or whatever.
Mostly, just enjoy the gift you have recieved...although it seems like it will never end, one day you will turn around and they will be off to enjoy their own life, and you will wonder where the time went.
What a great thanksgiving gift, in any culture, at any time.
I am thankful you have been given the chance to enjoy life's greatest blessing.
(Oh yeah, and don't listen to any of the horror stories people will somehow be inclined to tell you about......If anybdy goes that route, they're just trying to make it about them.)
When our son was born, someone told us
The best gift you can give your child is roots and wings. Roots so they always know where home is, and wings so they can fly free when the time is right.
I like that.
Congratulations and much happiness and good health to you all. Please, do keep us posted.

Congratulations. It's a great gift you are anticipating.

Enjoy each day because every moment is fleeting... one day they're a day old, and in a blink, they're grown.

Congrats Duane. From a new father, I would say get a MidWife, they make such a difference especially for you during the delivery.

Enjoy, babies are so amazing, they change your life. I'm sure we will be discussing Yo Gabba Gabba and Dora in a few years.

Congratulations! You're about to embark on an incredible journey. :)

Advice:

Soak in every moment you can and learn to put everything else out of your head when you're with the little one. Be in the moment or you'll miss it.

You'll re-learn the wonderment of watching an ant crawl up and down blades of grass and 'see' how truly amazing life is all around you. It's always been there, it's just we forget until a gift from God reminds us.

You can blend the flower shop with parenthood but finding the right balance for everybody may take time. Take that time.

So very happy for both of you.

Nice timing on the due date! :)

Everyone says get sleep now becaue you won't later. I say, spend time with your spouse now because that time together changes so much, it really affected my husband and I. I wish someone had told me that...

Wonderful news! Big Congrats!

Enjoy this special time to the max! Life will never return to this normal again.
Kidlets can be such a blessing and can drive you crazy at the same time, seems they grow up overnight!

congratulations......parenting doesn't come with a handbook....my best advice, stay away from handbooks, and use common sense. Let the kid get dirty, let them eat dirt, let them make mistakes, show them who's boss from day one and don't deviate. They are clever little characters with all of their cuteness and they know how to play it....don't be fooled!!!
Enjoy! Mine are the best thing that happened to me! Great boys, both of them, now very wonderful young men!

No advice except go with your gut instincts on the many decisions you will be faced with... vgh is right, there is no rulebook to parenting although sometimes i wish they did pop out with their own individual leaflet explaining how they work!! ;)..... and what fixes them...

All of my congratulations.. very excited for you. My oldest is 10 next year and it makes me feel ancient when i hear about babies...

Now, if your flower shop was in England, the due date would not be a problem :)

Congratulations Buffie and Duane! Don't know if you guys believe in chiropractic care.... I've never used it regularly but when I was pregnant with my third I buggered up my shoulder and had to get it fixed. The chiropractor suggested I continue to see him once a month during the pregnancy so that I would have an easier delivery and keep my spine intact. I did and labor and delivery was three hours exactly, with only about 10 mins. of hard labor, so I guess it worked! Also took the baby soon after to realign her spine after delivery.
