Hello-
Can someone please let me know if these two OGs actually have brick and mortar stores such as those pictured on their websites?

is there anything deceptive about their advertising then? do they charge hidden service fees?

The only thing I can accuse Wesley Berry of is plagarism. Most of the text on their FOL website as well as their delivery fee model I personally wrote back in 2001 which is 2 or 3 years before Wesley Berry even had online presence.

Moreover, since their other money maker websites all ultimately filter into their FOL shopping cart I know that hidden fees can't exist. All FOL shopping carts are on the same template and can not be changed.

Avas flowers also utilizes the FOL shopping cart. Again, no hidden fees can exist.

Weasley states they are a master florist in my town. :wallhead:

This is what they state:

"As a member of FTD, we have access to floral shops that have been approved by floral experts. Whether you are sending flowers down the street or out of the area, we can help you do both in compliance with the professional standards set forth by FTD. Our commitment to you is to provide you with the same convenient and professional service that customers who patron our in-house stores have come to expect."

Regarding the Master Florist claim, this is what they write:

"Flower Delivery to [fill in your town and state]. Order Online from a Master florist with fast nationwide delivery service in [fill in your town and state]. A service of Wesley Berry Florist since 1946"

They are not claiming to be the master florist filler but only the master florist service provider. I'm not a Wesley Berry defender but I also don't believe they are deceptive. Yes, at times they may appear in the gray area but I don't believe they have the same deceptive lingo as Urban Florist once had.

Regarding Rhonda's inquiry on no address. I liken that to just plain inexperience as an OG.

so then what is the disadvantage to a consumer that orders flowers from wesleyberry to be delivered out-of-town?

This is what I see in your link Rhonda:

"Order Online from a Master florist with fast nationwide delivery service in East Millinocket Maine"

Yes. There's a lot of semantics here that's for sure. But the way it reads to me is that the online patron will be ordering from a Master Online florist who is a service provider for nationwide deliveries.

Having said that, I understand completely with what you are saying as the tag appears in a local search query for your area which sets the context for local only services.

In my opinion, context always rules. So I'm ultimately in agreement with you.

Is it possible to compete with WesleyBerry and Avas in the organic search ranking? Just recently they starting showing up in the organic search ranking for my town, and have grabbed the number 1 and 2 spots.

Not a real florist serving a specific area anyway . If you do a search in my zip code (Colorado )they come up as a florist delivering in our entire state . In my experience they are an OG

Totally!

Just have to get bizzy is all...:tread:

Wesley doesn't bother me one bit. I don't see him claiming to be a master florist in other cities, but you can read between the lines if you like I guess. but that claim really isn't there.

I agree with Mac, some are caught up in semantics and thinking someone can or can't say certain things, but, as with any marketing vernacular...

opinions vary

Just get bizzy and good luck with it!
