Probably been done before but how do you really feel about the deceptive adverting ?

I'm the lone voter for Let Somebody Else Do Something About It.

Except it should have read Let Somebody Else TRY to do Something About It.

Been there done that, try not to pick losing battles or time wasters any more, cuz I have better stuff to do working on my own business.

And I have this metaphysical belief that eventually positive always triumphs over negative.

Several years ago I attempted to bring area florists together to brainstorm possible responses to this problem. The first roadblock was the unwillingness of most florists to get involved, believing that it was too time consuming and wouldn't work anyway. The second roadblock was that nothing we tried was successful. Red tape and legalities (that seemed to favor the deceptive advertiser) at every turn. It was very frustrating. :wallhead:

Deceptive advertising has an impact on my business (and the entire floral industry) and needs to be cut off at the knees. If anyone has successfully tackled this, I would like to hear your method(s).

It's whackamole from what I see.

Took 10 years for Tom Meola to burn up, and a new one (Best Floral) stepped RIGHT into his shoes.

I know I'll be accused of advocating "rolling over" but there's just way more productive things to do.

Negativity about flower vendors affects us all as well. The message there is "Be Careful - the flower market is a dangerous neighborhood and Chocolates are safer."

I believe many or at least some of the efforts to fight this are counter-productive.

I've said it before. I have evidence in my office that is potentially dynamite if it got into the public domain about the tricks and dodginess of some of the operators over here.

However until I can be 110% sure that the story won't be twisted and used against all the legit florists out there I won't let it out.

The solution - as I see it - is for as many as possible to keep banging on about the good points and by implication or nuance imply non real florists aren't as good/reliable/value for money/professional blah blah blah.

I think boomz may be right with the whachamole analogy. I have really only been heavily involved in the online flower business for about a year, and once I started digging into it, I couldn't believe what I found.

I do think there are certain fights that need to be fought. Especially on the net. You can get #1 placement with false advertising on Google, if you are willing to pay for it. I have worked too many hours and spent too much time on SEO to see my hard work thwarted by these jerks.

It is a united front that is necessary. One shop can't take on Google, but many can, and there is no time like the present. I would like to know what the floral associations are doing about these issues? Anyone?
