What can you tell me about Floral Source International?

I have received a 'phone call from Floral Source International (FSI), a wire service that they claim is without the problems and all the fees of the "standard" WS.

I have had a quick look at their website - www.yourfsi.com - reveals, as did the relatively brief 'phone conversation - monthly fees "...as low as $69.99..." (which could also mean as high as "xxxx") and a $19.99 monthly sending program fee.

I am not really interested in joining FSI but never having heard of them, I did wonder who else had and what opinions are about the company based upon experience, fact or heresay. Who knows, FSI might be a pleasant exception to the WS experience many of us have or had. Then again, maybe FSI is so similar to the rest of the WS - that $89.98 + taxes starts looking expensive if their membership is low.

Curious to know more.

Heresy says stay away.

Thank you Linda.

I also happened to note that FSI and Ezbloomers both have some of the same floral arrangement and plant imagery. Ezbloomers advise, in a separate thread, that they and FSI licensed some pictures from the same source and, other than that, there is no connection between the 2 companies, per Exbloomers.

you could probably make more money by sending $270 ($89 CoGS) worth of flower arrangements to local businesses every month.

They called me last week too, it looks like they are trying to cash in on the discontent of B&M florists with their current wire services.

How or what are B&M florists that are causing discontent?

i think you read that wrong the B&M florist are not happy with the wire services and are leaving daily.
its nto that the florists are causing problems they are just fed up with the fees wire services ask.

Okay...but what does "B&M" stand for?

Brick & Mortar
real shops
and you could actually read it either way. We are causing alot of discontent in the WS because we are leaving and/or not filling crappy OG orders. FTD had major "capacity issues" this Mother's Day simply because I ran no WS orders for the first half of the month. It was actually very empowering to see how much impact my shop has in this town.

The optimist in me replies to Jamie and Flowermomma by writing that I hope you are correct.

The cynic in me feels that this is purely cyclical and in a few months, there'll be a spate of florists on Flowerchat bemoaning WS and pondering whether to terminate or not. Meanwhile, off-stage, as it were, the WS are signing up new lambs -sorry florists- to the slaughter.

In regards to the "same images". IIRC (if I remember correctly), those images are John Henry. I have some of those on my website, too. I bought the package to get my site up right away without having to have a whole library of my own.

Simon, those new lambs who are just starting out will never know the difference, most of them will be working from their homes. The orders WILL get filled.

Linda, IMHO (in my...oh, never mind!) I fear you might be right about many new lambs. That though is probably a whole other thread subject.

Back on to the subject of FSI, I wonder if anyone else has opinions or hearsay on that company.

...
We have used 5 sources for our images... the few we have in common with FSI did not come from JHC. Just thought I'd set the record straight.

Not specific to FSI -
I don't understand why anybody would pay monthly fees to send or receive orders. Seems to me these fees start your participation off on a minus until when or if the orders off set the fees. Just thought I would put it out there.

The people in Oregon are very friendly and polite. They will not generate business for florisrs who feel they must have wire orders to survive. FSI does not have good US coverage for any shop to use for sending. The selection guide and website products are generally priced too low to be realistically profitable. I agree that the annual fee would be better spent as free samples like rose bud vases for local businesses.
