What can you tell me about FloralSource?

A rep for floralsource just came into the shop. They need someone to service this area. Their prices a very low compared to the other WS and I told her I would think about it.

She said they didn't have anyone in the area, but after she left I went to their site and the florist one block over is in their service. Kinda left me feeling let down. I don't know how 2 in the same service could benifit from this in a town of 3200.

Just in Jan. 2008 they have signed up 171 new shops. From my understanding it is owned by John Carruthers.
Their top 6 reasons to join were:
1. Free commerce website with their pics.
2. They don't compete against the florist.
3. Lowest dues in the industry.
4. Keep more of what you make.
5. They are partnerts with florist.
6. No equipment to buy.

Any info would be greatly appreicated.

No membership fees involved...

Wonder what ever happend with that rumor that a group of the top/largest flowers shops were going to buy FloralSource from John?

The rep did tell me that 5 of the largest florist in the US had left FTD and came over the FloralSource, but I can't remember the names of them. Had never really heard of them anyway. So maybe in a round about way that is one of the things that has happened. The newsletter she left me was a Jan. 2008, I wondered what she didn't leave a more current one. I would really like to know whats going on with this company.

I've used them now for about six months. I thought I would give them a try since I cut my expensive WS. The reason they are so inexpensive I think is because they just don't get very many orders in. They really can't advertise like the big 3 because their fees are so low. I liked them because they were modeled after the old traditionl WS before the drop shipping, OG and erroneous fees began.
Basically I break even with my incoming every month but I have a hard time finding florist in their network who will fill. I'm going to go ahead and cancel them and stay WS free. Your area may be different than mine and Floral source may work for you.
