Not sure about your shops but for us Father's Day is pretty much a nonevent. So last year we started promoting it more and this year we have done even more. I used our mid-month email to send out a Don't Forget Dad promo. We included 3 gifts for dad.

Just wondering what you guys offer. How you promote it. If it does any good.

Hey my dish garden has a fishing hole LOL It is called Gone Fishin'. It has a little dish with some rocks in the bottom and a few little fishing poles. The sign reads "No Fishing". Hubby made it up one day when it was slow. He got those creative juices flowing.

Father's Day never is much for a floral occasion, only the REAL men like flowers ;)

Here are some of my specials

Obviously straight from my camera, I have the edited ones on computer at home.

The rest of what I'm offering are here.

I actually just sold one of the succulent gardens to man for his dad, and somebody else just ordered the 2 gerbera called fun-ky. That one was from mother's day a couple years ago but has proven to be a hit for any occasion.

Lori, I saw yours on facebook last night, thanks for the reminder! :)

Again, we don't do a lot for fathers day (FYI it's in September here) but we do a gift basket with beer, jerky, chips, nuts. A basket of mixed pot plants is also a good one.

Just be aware of what your local laws are in regards to supplying alcohol - we can do it under an exemption but there are conditions we must adhere to.

We have been busy with other things, sidewalk sale and wedding, and we know it usually doesn't do much anyway. We did buy the TF BBQ grills and have sold a few, very cute little guy I have to say.

The Best Seller ever in my experience for Father's day was way back in my floral career. The shop I was working for at the time managed to snag about a hundred real german lidded beer steins. She came up with a gift basket that had flowers in the stein itself and surrounding the stein was 6 different cans of a real german beer. She had got hold of different brands....and those things sold like crazy......She ended up having to get two more orders of steins if I remember correctly. Nothing since then has come close to that thing.

I guess I just feel that I dropped the ball and should have been promoting it sooner. The gals at work keep telling me they have never done much for it. I keep thinking ... that's because you never tried! So I am making a plan for next year and we will try again. May even do my window with a bbq grill and fun stuff like that. CELEBRATE DAD written real big. Then after Father's Day we can use the grill through 4th of July with FLOWERS FOR THE BBQ or something. We will have to think on this more. Thanks gang for all of the great ideas.

Ricky love the stein idea!! The customers could bring us their dad's favorite brews. We could call it buds and brews LOL. Nice!

Well, Father's Day is over, so I'm not sure why I'm posting, but I'll throw in my 2 cents anyway <wink>

We're just not in the right area, I guess. Nothing we've ever done has amounted to much, and the landlord's restrictions for doing something outside our door are ... well ... restrictive. I talked to some of our neighbouring merchants - a Hallmark store, a men's clothing store, a pub - their sales were flat, too. I feel sorry for all the dads in this area. This year we did no FD promotion, and had exactly the same sales as other FD's when we did promote it. Sigh.
