Not sure if this is where I post this, but here goes.

Below is an arrangement. Can someone please give me info on the orange flower in the upper left hand corner please? I have seen them in yellow and have seen their name, it's some long latin name. Is there a common name for them, are they expensive and how long do they last? Thanks!

Also, what is this flower below please too:

And while I am at it, what is this purple snake skin flower's name and attributes:
Wow, I've never found so many flowers I didn't know, this is great stuff!! :) Evolving is so much fun.

This is a nerine (spelling) lily I believe.

Large orange (and yellow) is Fritallaria Imperialis.
Smaller purple is Fritallaria Meleagris.
and yes V is correct a red Nerine Lily.

Da mn, I couldn't think of the Fritallaria... I could picture it growing in my friend's garden, and I knew it started with "f". :) Thanks for clearing it up!

Awesome ladies :) Our Nerines are always pink, never seen one that color!! My farm has some explaining to do as to why they only have pink Nerines!

And the orange one, that is the latin name I knew, any common name? And do any of you know well these flowers last as a cut flower? And Parie, I'm sure Nerines can be found on FB, but what about the other two?

Don't bother your farm.......not sure of the name but it's a cactus.......not in the lily family at all.

Cactus?!?

According to the plant/flower books that my mom gave me, Nerines are members of the Amaryllis family that come from Southern Africa.

Common name: "Spider Lily" or "Guernsey Lily"
Latin name: Nerine bowdenii

But the flower shown is not a Nerine....it's a cactus flower!!!

hey

aren't those orange frittelaria supposed to be Stinky?? or is it just the bulb
I see the latest dutch book has the purple flowered varr. of Frit. but not the orange. They also show 5 varr of nerine but not that red varr.

We had a mixed box of nerines in Oct. 2005 for Rosh Hashanah got it from Sierra. There was pink, white, coral, and they deep wine red shown above.
Different petal shapes as well.

You're right John... it IS a cactus flower! It was very early in the morning when I glanced. The rest of the plant almost looks like prickly pear, but I'm sure it's not. :)

Frittalaria STINKS! I remember, wondering through my friends garden, loving all the lush colours and scents... until... oh my gosh, it's nasty... beautful to look at but awful to smell.
