As I sat reading the newspaper this am I found an ad in the help wanted section for "seasonal work from home opportunities".I quote"work from the comfort of your own home for one of America's favorite companies."WTH?
flexible schedule.must have your own PC,ability to work 20-50hrs a week depending on business needs...competitive hourly wage.........

I am amused to say the least..do you suppose their phone centers are costing them to much , I guess the general public is just as qualified to take orders as the untrained people in the call centers...what do you suppose is going on?:)

they hire holiday help to work at home. Yep, if you have caller ID sometimes you get their phone numbers, sometimes they use voip.

Lizzie, I don't think this is anything new.

Why pay for office space and all those telephone systems when you can hire
Joe Blow to sit in his pj's and take orders from home.

Have to say, great business move on their part. It's just about making all the money they can, and keeping it.

They have been doing this for as long as I can remember.

It's fairly standard practice for cost-efficient call centre services. People work from home, log in on a PC, and the central system routes calls to the home operators. Every holiday season they post ads seeking extra staff.

Pretty much any florist with a decent phone system can do the same thing. Question is, are we willing to adapt?

PS - moving this out of the commentary forum, as it's off topic

Mmmmmmmmmmm Maybe we should all apply. What the heck we are open during business hours. We would get paid to receive their orders. We could convince people to order from a Real florist. Up sell. I think we could do them some real harm after a holiday.
