I thought it was just Texas.
Sunday, out of nowhere, we heard a roar and stepped outside to see a big white looking cloud with the deafening roar coming out of it, then the golf ball sized hail covered the ground.
After the roar passed over us, the Baseball sized hail came!
There are mature oak trees all around the house and we could hear the giant hail breaking limbs off the trees and hitting the ground with loud thuds, when it let up a bit I made the mistake of going into the back yard. Two hail stones larger than baseballs hit 6 and 8 feet from me. Made sure I collected some of them for the insurance people to see.
I called the 911 system for the larger town just north of us, they put out an alert. Within a 35 mile square to the north and south of our home, there were two tornado's in less than an hour. Lots of damage. I feel for those folks. Thankfully it is very rural.
In all my 59 years, I've not seen hail that big. God is good all the time, he allowed it to just pass above us. It did bring in the cooler winds, maybe fall is really here now.
Ring, Ring...hi insurance man, got some auto claims for ya'...
