Just curious... I think it helps to know that there are other crazy people keeping their staff here much too late (and us owners too of course).

What time do you all think you will work until tonight? Are you done all Friday and Saturday orders... or just Fridays?

What time do you think you will work until Friday night?

For us the we end up getting very little accomplished tomorrow once the phones start ringing and the store gets packed, so we know we have to get most of Saturdays done tonight, or we'll be here far too late tomorrow night. Tonight I hope to get them outta here by 10:30, tomorrow night 11:30 or midnight.

According to 2004 #'s, I expect to have 250 delivery orders taken tomorrow for Fri/Sat, that's not even counting the orders called in for pick up OR taken sales. And we have two freakin school dances!!

I'm feeling better now... the sea of flowers is dwindling.

got done around 6:30 tonight, I needed to check on my dad. He didn't come over to the shop today.

He was hurting pretty bad today. His left calf was sore. He slept in the recliner last night. When I checked on him this evening he was feeling better.

His first question to me was, "How are things going with orders?" meaning where were we.

I said good.

We are dealing with two funerals and I booked a wedding for Saturday.

It is a pretty easy wedding.

I am feeling pretty good about sales, and our progress. Greenhouse staff stayed out there transplanting today.

The hydrangeas are just coming into to color. I missed Vday a bit, but will sell the remaining <300 over the next couple weeks.

Tomorrow, might get a bit more dicey.

Heather, like you noted. Tomorrow and Sat are the big order days.

If I get out of the shop before 10 tomorrow night I will be happy.

one other significant point that can be made.....

We greened up alot and made a bunch of stuff last Saturday.

This saves on my overtime pay. Had we made this stuff up on Mon or Tues, and worked longer hours, I would be knee deep in time and half.

For those of you FC'rs who are employees, I make no apologies, business is business and businesses need to focus on the profitability.

Like someone once said, a business' Profit is the employees security.

I wish I had more of my mom's "penny pincher mettle" in me.

Still cranking here tonight and expect a late night tomorrow. I'd guess 2 A.M. if tghings all fall into place. Later if the economy allows.

Kevin

P.S. Give em hell Joe and Heather

It's 9:30 and I am still here!

Just ate a cup of raisin bran with skim milk, have two rose dozens and an arrangement to do. I need to pull the pickups for tomorrow and do the driver routing. This year I am doing 85 % of the designing. I've so far kept up with with last years stats, we will see what the next two days brings.

We left at 8:30 tonight...all orders ready to go for tomorrow. My goal is to always have all orders filled for the next day before leaving. Personally, I never keep staff past 9PM...EVER! What's the point? They're worthless after 12 hours! I don't believe in paying overtime for "under producing!" I have one employee who will be paid 6 hours overtime for the week, the rest are at 40 or less. The key is to have plenty of little Valentine elves to back up your design team...the elves fill the vases with water, greenery, filler and designers complete. Everyone I employ for a holiday sticks to their assignments...phone people are phone people, designers are designers, drivers are drivers, etc...no deviations permitted...otherwise chaos prevails. We're in good shape so far...lots of stock for sale, ready to fill orders for the 14th all day tomorrow...and looking to fill every order that comes our way! Business as usual on a holiday! I just hope the sales come "sailing in" tomorrow...we are well stocked and definitely ready for action.

Crew left at 11pm. Did all Friday and Saturdays except a about 20 that can be mostly pulled from backstock, small family funeral and half of a small wedding. We are in good shape for tomorrow. Have about 100 various cut flowers wrapped in $10, $20, $30 & $40 and dozen red roses wrapped, plenty of backstock for orders that come in. Just need some single reds wrapped with bb wrapped and we're all set.

Love this part of VD. Doesn't get any better than 2/13! Only have about 800 red roses in the house plus what's already made. I should sell out VD morning, possible sooner, but I have plenty of colors. Not so much a color or weird request holiday here this year.... RED RED RED.

We finished at 10., and headed to our delivery pool drop-off. Building is looking pretty good, with about 1/2 of the trucks in so far.

We finished all of Friday's orders, including pick-ups. Saturday's orders are sorted, and ready for us at 7 am.

Finishing the payroll, and calling it a day/night.

Good luck to all tommorrow.

Cheryl

We'll be out of here about 10ish as well.

Tomorrow night probably the same, but we have more orders (twice as many as of now) for Friday than we do for Saturday.....

Tomorrow will get nuts tho.

Dontcha love those lames that take 45 minutes choosing their wrapped carryout bouquets from the cooler one stem at a time?

Out the door at 8:30. 8 designers. Everything done for tomorrow, all custom orders done for Sat and I've 'coached' (i.e. threatened) everyone to sell theme and variations of recipes/inventory for the next two days.

Weather reports predicting storm/heavy rain tomorrow we'll have to watch the amount of added business deliveries.

Numbers are tracking the same pattern as 2004 so far (last Saturday V Day).

Call time 6:30 AM tomorrow.

Have an awesome holiday and make the most of it!.

Had a lot of designers in on Thursday, and they were all out the door by 5:00 PM. All the orders for the 13th were completed. We'll start in on the 14th when everyone returns at 8:00 AM today.

We used to work late in the "old days", but with a POS system, and not taking any incoming from FTD.com, etc., we work smarter and more profitable now.

Jim finished up and got home around 7:00. Of course, he was awake at 3:30AM, and left for work at 5:00 AM to get the packages to the delivery co-op.

Thursday I worked till 9:00 and got all the orders done for Fri-Sat. I also did the centerpieces for the wedding I have. I don't know that I'm gonna get slammed, since I'm new and in a spa, but today I'm going to make up more extras to sell from the cooler and finish the wedding (bouquets, bouts, corsages). I will work till I'm done, and it depends how the day goes. I don't expect to be insanely late, but who knows. Happy day everyone! $$$$$$ :>

I must say... FC members must all be geniuses!!

No one saying they will be working until 3am! Rock on!

The inherited April's crew told me that they stayed at the shop last year for 3 days straight... I was like "what?!?!?!?"
They are very impressed with how things are ran now!

no one stayed past 7ish last night. We are going in at 5am... I better get in the shower!!

ROCK ON!!!!!

Thursday staff in at 9am, working till 5:30 - I came in at 7am & stayed till 7 for stragglers.
Friday staff in at 8am, working till 6:00 - I came in at 7am & stayed till 7:30 for stragglers.
Saturday staff in at 8am, working till ?? I came in at 7am & stayed till??

We worked ahead Mon/Tues/Wed to avoid late nights -we're small enough where this is pretty effective. I still have to get used to seeing a cooler F U L L of flowers two days out from the 14th & not tons of orders. Way last minute louies 'round here - after almost panicking, the phones finally kicked in hot & heavy ;)

have fun everyone!

Worked till almost midnight last night. Shannon I remember working till 3 am at a shop many moons ago. To me that is called insanity or not enough planning/help. Eek!

Most staff went home around 10, I stayed until 10:30.

For the month, we are already ahead of 2004 sales. That is counting trough 14-Feb-04. Pretty close to last years 01/14-Feb-08 sales already

I actually like Sat Vday's.
