they can be made all sorts of ways. You know like a septor (is that how you spell that??)

It's a magic wand made of flowers. I found this pic. on Google images...it's not mine!

same idea as the picture but much smaller on top,
just think fairy wands from kids costumes, lots of ribbons and some flowers glued on to the top or try an igloo, or the tiniest oasis ball, or something little like then with a stick attached and all covered
(haven't tried that myself but you've inspired me to have a go for fun!):thumbsup

And the flowergirls just carry them like bouquets? I have a vision of a little girl dancing down the aisle, sprinkling fairy dust and waving her flower wand...

I've seen my own two nieces( they were 4 and 6) banging their pomander balls together as they went down the aisle in my sister's wedding, they'd had a disagreement and decided they'd use them as ladylike weapons. Can't imagine what they would have done with a flower wand...maybe a light saber inspired battle?

If you Google image "flower wand for wedding" a ton of examples will show up in the results.

We use flower wands for flower girls often. the trick is to keep them small and very light weight. Otherwise, they are too heavy for the little ones to hold.

We use a flat styrofoam circle disk -- about 3 to 4" across. Ribbon trim around the edge, insert a small diameter dowel rod about 18" long for a handle. Glue in the handle!! Lots of ribbons at the handle & then cover with silk or fresh petals or flowers (small, flat headed works best).

We have tried the small cages & igloos -- too heavy with wet foam.

My next try will be will a variation on a CHR trick -- using lots of loops of wired #9 ribbon to make a large puffy bow. Attach a stick handle, ribbon wrapp & glue in the flowers. I think we will have a winner here!

If I can ever figure out how to post pictures, I will add some to here.

My only caution is to make sure that the child does not get this until right before they go down the isle -- they will have a tendancy to run around with it & "bonk" people on the head with their wand!!

Good luck!!

This sounds like a cute and different flower girl dea! And to keep it lightweight, I might use a "ball bow" of colored tulle glued on the ribbon wrapped dowel, then just glue in lots of babies breath and small flowers...and lots of thin ribbon streamers just beneath the ball.. Can't wait to try it tomorrow (after the wedding delivery!)---I'll do one in silk as a sample... Thanks!!!

..oh, I just thought of the finishing touch: spray with "Finishing Touch" (how appropriate!) or Crowning Glory, then sprinkle with iridescent glitter! Little girls will love it!

I'm making one for a July 5th wedding. I just took a bamboo stick and inserted a star shaped styrofoam at the end (glued it in) and will be glueing Yoko Ono mums and 2 or 3 orange mokara orchids.

Add some trailing ribbons and voila!!! Simple, cost effective, light for little kids to handle, and different.

I'll post a pic when it's done.
