What's Next....

Well I heard today from a realiable source that the other florist in town is thinking of either sell her shop or close it after Mother's Day!

THe source is from my friend Jack who hired the delivery driver of the other florist. Actually he has been working part-time for Jack and the other florist for a while.

I always say, I will believe it when I see it. If it does, it may be very interesting if she chooses to close her doors.

I had to get it out of my system before I explode and can't think straight.

The things that is going through my mind is freaking me out or should I say will freak other out.

I think the ball may get bigger in my sand box!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is there something "wrong" with your "competition" going out of business?
Do you feel "pressured" into joining another wire service that probably PUT her out of business?
Is this Jack's "observations" or "opinion"??

I'm alittle confused here. Is there something I missed? Your competition is admitting defeat by either closing (which means his/her shop does not have much value) or trying to sell - which in this industry means you have a pretty good chance of selling to a novice, because there are no barriers to entry. And if a real florist does buy the shop, he/she has a lot of catch-up to do because it sounds like the shop has little value. I don't know, but it seems like you are in a good place...

THere is nothing wrong with my competition going out of business, It proves a few things we have discussed here.
1. She has 2 wire services
2. SHe filled for anyone including under value orders
3. Her husband a bank manager, she took a course in flower designing and thought she could make it.

As per your second question, I do not feel pressure at all at having to join any wire service. If she decide to close that leaves me, and all of the florists and wire service that screwed me will have a hard time getting their others filled.
If she sells, it will be again someone like a basement betty with no experience in business. In our area there is no experience designers that wants to move to elliot lake and start up a business.

The reason of my post was to get it out of my system, see what happens and go from there. There is to many valuable to think what might happen. I will make my decisions when things develop.

AS for Jack, I value his opinion and knowledge in the business. He wanted to warn me of this possible selling/closing of her store. If she closes that I will be prepared.

I value Jack's observations as well, and you are ABSOLUTELY correct about the wire services..STAND YOUR GROUND!!
