It's just a search engine "bot" that crawls the website looking to index information for search engines like Google and Yahoo.

slurp spiders belong to Yahoo...

sometimes are rather spammy. (800 to 900 of them hitting your site at the same time and coming several times in one day)

I think Yahoo started using the "slurp spider" about 2006.
