Dominion is the local Lablaw's operation , yes it should make Ftd proud to have such a member , we throw away better than what is on their floor each day. Designs in the cooler done in Toronto and ground freighted down here , fabulous quality, the amount of petals on the floor tells you the quality of the products sitting in buckets on the floor. Yes I can really see what the quality assurance fee we pay every month does for the caliber of flowers send by someone who is so proud to be FTD. The name FTD just keeps sinker lower and lower .

Oh Infinite one,
Are we forgetting that those roses are the "freshest that Golden Rose has" or whatever that sign said in their warehouse........
Funny thing, when you compare their web prices they aren't any lower; gee could this be deceptive advertising??? Anyway, as hard as they've been trying, they can't get an order filled here........
A snippet from a conversation with the Loblaw's/Fontino's...
"Well if you won't fill that 73.00 order for 37.99 then how much do you want?" (I took a little literary licence here:) )
Me "I'm sorry, YOU don't have enough money"
her "But we'll give it to you"
me "No. you don't understand, Loblaws doesn't have enough money (well maybe they do but they weren't going to give it to me anyway!); we won't fill this order for you for any amount sinice you are a sending only shop, we only fill orders from real florists".
Next morning...........
Merc prints out the same order again so guess what I did?
No, I didn't reject it, that costs!!!!!!!!!
I found the PERFECT way to deal with FTD's SFO's AND I heartily recommend it to EVERYONE...
"FOR" it to DOMESTIC RETRANS, CODE NUMBER 91-6650AA and let FTD's staff handle the problem that FTD has created.....
Now I feel better..
Rock (on The Rock)
PS My honey is 4 dozens years old today, HAPPY BIRTHDAY JANIE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Birthday Jane, hope at least he takes you out to dinner and not bring home a bucket.

Happy Birthday, Jane!!!!

BTW, Rock, no I haven't forgotten ... but Loblaws buys the lowest grade 40's & maybe some 50's ... no comparison to the 70-80's we carry. Mostly, GR wholesales them the Alstro that florists haven't bought. (This is my obervation, not direct quoting from anyone at GR.)

How much is 4 doz going for this year in Bay Roberts? A brand new car, or diner at A sea food place?

Best wishes Jane and wishing you many many more.

As for loblaws, I got a order from them the other day. Under value as usual with no sub. Phoen and said we can't do it.

THey change their tunes after they realize we are the only FTD store in Elliot Lake.
As of may 1 no FTD coverage.... Interesting

Hmm what about Safeway in Canada and the United States? Aren't they proud to be Teleflora? hahahah!

Along with KaBlooms, and any number of other QUALITY shops...

Maybe I should put up a couple images with the TF logo, but alas as long as they say it does not happen in Teleflora, I guess it does not...

Imagine, FTD with 20.5K members and a few like this and Teleflora with 28K... wonder where all those other QUALITY shops are...

Not worth the piss'n match...

I know, if TF says it doesn't happen, it simply doesn't. After all they are the leaders and the biggest in the world, and the best in everything they do. Simply because they say it.

Wasn't my point, Peter & Mark.

I just feel bad for people who have bought into the "brand" crap and dutifully pay their dues based on that theory, only to have the brand further diluted by FTD's own greed. They've just bought themselves another round of headaches.

Guess I missed the point then...sorry...

I took it to be that the "LOGO" is on a grocer...

My BAD...Somebody Slap me:buttkick

Jane says thanks for the wishes! We went out to Jungle Jim's for steak dinners; they had a fund raiser for Big Brothers/Big Sisters and their entire menu was half price with a donation so BB/BS got a donation and we're stuffed so everyone's happy!!!!!! Finished just in time for Jane to go to Tuesday night bingo....
I agree with Ryan (did I really say that??) we FTD members can only get more headaches from this Loblaw's member deal as we have seen here! Oh, well, if necessary, Merc Dir will be deleted; if necessary FTD will follow. We treat them as a supplier so if they don't measure up they're gone. I run Atkinson Flowers for Jane & myself and our family; our business decisions are made with long term objectives in mind, anyone who we've dealt with more than once knows that and takes that into account before our business relationship goes ahead. We are presently planning a new building so when we do decide to retire we have some real estate to sell if we decide to close our business.
Rocking on.........

You were partly correct ... It's the principle of ADDING a grocery chain at this point. It follows acquisitions in recent years of several OGs, the merger with DOT CON, Walgreen's ... now National Grocers. Yes, TF has Safeway out west, and in the US too from what I'm told - but they are existing members. Both TF and FTD will tell you it is harder to eject an eyesore than to prevent one. (they've both said this for years ... old topic. And yes, this is where Peter will pipe up about "Not with BN but it's a little different for the bigger fish.)

TF is not acquiring OGs or chasing grocery chains. They are not competing via TF.com (anyone want to double their bets with me? I'm game! Triple, even). FTD is acquiring and adding ... and at the cost of the brand and the value of the logo every hardworking FTD member has on their door.

They is no way you can convince me that a Loblaws or Fortinos is equal to the work and quality and commitment of Smith's, Holden's, Ital's ... oh, bloody, even Heroman's (the original! ;) ). Shops who sign on with FTD are told they are buying into a brand that means something and with the other hand FTD is wringing every penny out of that little naked golden man that they can get without a thought for the longterm harm.

When I left FTD 2 yrs ago I felt the brand was already too diminished to be of further value to me. Nothing in the best 2 years has made me reconsider that opinion.

I always wondered how the local FTD super market gets arround the 3 red points for 10$ while trying to send one out of town for 40$

I did hear from a former employee of theirs about issues they had with a casket spray reeking of garlic. Seems they stored that sucker in the meat locker near a load of garlic Hams. Too bad the state inspectors wern't working that day.. No Vampires showed up at the funeral. and the visitors didn't linger.

LOL Ryan. The bigger fish lack the courage to do it, it's that simple. It would be a real PLUS or feather in their caps if they did, imagine what Florists would think then..

They already did with FlowerClub and the many side deals that FlowerClub does with other companies out there, various MLM's such as American Marketing.

Again ... old news. FlowerClub came piggy-backed onto another acquisition. All TF has done with it is remove all non-floral product from FlowerClub's offering. No more direct or drop-ship, only flowers from a local florist. I, myself won't fill for FlowerClub, but I do appreciate the desire to stick to selling flowers. At least the florist is not completely cut out of the loop.

a REAL SOLUTION......

every REAL FLORIST drop both wire services, and join A1 Florists. If enough members join A1, we'll have a FULL network of send and receive locations, everything internet based, NO OG's, NO Q&A, NO Dot Coms, and NO high costs...this thread would die....along with TF, FTD, and all those OG's.
It's not rocket science...some florists just aren't much good at simple solutions!!
Mike

Its a great idea Mikey , but until its up and running that way most of us are afraid to make that giant leap into the unknown. Sorry to say I just don't have the balls to blindly follow without some sort of assurance that I'm not going to screw myself in the end.
