Does anyone know a no fail beautiful hot pink rose variety? I have a wedding at the end of August and have been trying out different varieties without any luck. I started with a new local rose called Figaro that had a brown cast to it and never opened.
DSCN4091.JPGDSCN4083.JPGIt is the short rose in the middle of the roses in the beaker vase. It is already two weeks old so if it hasn't opened now it never will. The roses on both ends looking down is Topaz. I only got the rose in Monday afternoon and the petals are already falling off ,it is floppy and has an awful shape with the double crease in the center of the rose. So far Purple Cezanne the middle rose is good but I need two or three varieties. Has anybody had success with -Roseberry,Shocking Versillia,Wild One, Cherry O, Latin Breeze, Hot Lady, Hot Ambiance, Pink Intuition, Attache, or Ravel or do you know any other consistantly good hot pink rose? My wholesaler told me they often get complaints on Hot Princess so I didn't include that one.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

In my experience, PROVIDED they are PROCONA packed and shipped in water......I have found attache to be the single best performing Hot Pink Rose. Of course, proper care and handling, underwatter cutting, obsessively clean buckets, preservatives, and the like help to aid that performance. Using good care and handling and processing techniques, and using procona packed roses, It's not unusual to see Attache last for 14 days and open beautifully.

Thanks Rick. I definitely know how to take care of roses once I get them but how they are taken care of enroute is another thing. That's why I prefer to get the roses from the local grower whenever possible. Most of their roses are excellent with that one exception of their new rose-Figaro. They are cut fresh and always in water.
Living on an island does sometimes present a problem because we have to rely on our wholesalers who go to Vancouver to pick up the flowers that are not grown locally. I could never go to the auction myself because of the ferry schedule. They go twice a week and sleep overnight at the wharehouse in order to be there by 5am for the auction.Unfortunately I am too small to order imported shipments directly from the rose growers so my local wholesalers and growers are my only source.

I really like Orlando roses and Attache for hot pink. They don't sell those two varieties, but my favorite farm right now is Sisapamba. They sell a little more open cut (not quite a russian cut) and are gorgeous and usually on the large side and I consistently get great vase life out of them! My local wholesaler gets them in for me on a regular basis.

Cherry O is listed as a dark pink roses, yet it opens beautifully into hot pink!!

Dianne,

My absolute favorite is Orlando. I have a standing order for them with a local grower but have used SA with 100% success too.

I used Attache' for my oldest daughter's wedding seven years ago and they were gorgeous too.

You will find that pink intuition is quite large and blowsy but could work for deeper in.

Another favorite of mine is Rossini but they are bi-color with white.

One that we will be using for my youngest daughter's wedding is Roulette. It's also a bi-color but in shades of pink although it may have too much brown for you.

Good luck!

My favorite hot pink for the past year has been Taiga. I first used them for a wedding last year and have some booked for my nephew's wedding this August. They open HUGE and stay for a long time. The pics are taken of some that I took home after the wedding last year and they were easily two weeks old. They are a great true hot pink as well. I agree with the assessment of hot princess-nice color but horrible performers.

Thank you everybody. I have been taking count and Attache has the most votes followed by Ravel and then Orlando.
Thanks Sandy . I love the look and colour of Taiga. One of my favourite roses is Geraldine but it is the wrong colour and Taiga looks like it would be very similar in shape and size. This has been very helpful. I'm going to call my wholesaler this morning and see if he can find any of the top 4 next week so I can try them out.

As far as growers, If your wholesalers and growers carry them, two names/ farms stand out to me as the best. RIO is one, EUFLORIA is the other.

Dianne, I really don't think my grower ships to Canada but you never know. Their roses are gorgeous and last several weeks, AND they smell good!

Their name is Len Busch Roses

They are more the size of Escimo, nothing like the huge south american roses

Len Busch Roses are excellent...partly because of the short trip from grower to retailer in our case. I agree, not very big heads, but what can you expect from a Minnesotan grown rose? It's almost an oxymoron LOL!
