I need to know which states charge no sales tax.

I am getting ready to buy a new toy. So I need to buy this new toy in a state that charges no sales tax.

The company that manufacturers this product has the shipping rates no matter where I am located. Shipping charges are $525.

If I were to purchase this product in my state, it would cost me over $250 in sales tax. local sales tax is 6.25pct.

Any help is appreciated!

Delaware, New Hampshire, Montana, Oregon.

Here's a summary: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sales_taxes_in_the_United_States

At least Illinois and California aren't complicated:rolleyes:

If none of those work, you could try Anchorage or Fairbanks. Apparently they don't charge sales tax either. Shipping might be a little higher though:eek:

Edit: mlou beat me to it.

No OUTLET, NO SALES TAX

As long as the vendor does not maintain an outlet or office in our State, that vendor is NOT REQUIRED to collect our State's Sales tax, and then, pass it on to them

However, our DYSFUNCTIONAL LEGISLATURE passed a law a few years back, which suggests that, we must report any item which we purchased outside of NYS on our annual NYS income tax reporting forms, and then, pay the sales tax on it. It's an honor system.

Of course, we all comply, especially since, all of our elected officials are all HONORABLE PEOPLE such as Elliott Spitzer who got caught before he confessed, and now David Patterson who confessed before he got caught.

In New York State, you just can't make this stuff up! lol

I was guessing that it was a new power tool!
I hope that it arrives at your destination ASAP, and that you have great fun making stuff -- just like my Dad taught me to do!

The short version of this story.....
Yes, I am the Carpenter's daughter.....and can saw & estimate and design with the best of them! Actually took the W Pa Union capenter's apprentice test a few years ago, registering only with my initials. Scored 100% on the written test. They wanted to give me a scholarship to join the program ---- until they figured out that I was an over 50 year old woman, and .... the daughter of one of their journeymen master carpenters! Caused a great deal of laughter....

Since then, I have spoken several times at their classes about how we should teach ALL OUR KIDS, including the girls, math (especially algebra & geometry!!), and how design & constrution matters in all walks of life -- including the field that I choose to make my career now.

I am a very active supporter of self-reliance, and teaching girls to use power tools!

Regards,
Cheryl

So true, Cheryl. It's all about being able to do for yourself, even if you don't need to.

Oooh, I LOVE power tools - hubby is sorry he showed me how to use his toys....

That looks pretty awesome Joe.
