how much of the price spread do you attribute to sociallized govt spending and programs?
also, I heard somewhere (I think it was from my other economist friend, Floyd R Turbo. Floyd is a full time trash collector part-time economist) that the Bush Adm has purposely let the dollar slide in an attempt to boost U.S. export sales.
Unfortunately, that strategy monkied with World oil prices as well.

Joe, my first thought when talking about this is exactly that, our health care, education and other programmes do increase the cost of doing business here. I'm grateful for the programmes.
I live fairly close to the border, but I am not a cross border shopper... I don't care about the money I'm apparently saving. I expect to get a pension from this country, and I work in retail and therefore strive to support local businesses.
