I had to share.

Earlier this afternoon I had a greatgrandma come in with a bunch of big box store flowers [that were past their prime and frozen] and a cut glass basket. She wondered if I could be able to "fix" this for the new greatgrandaughter. I gently told her that the flowers she brought wouldn't be usable but I had some nice pink cut flowers we could use instead. As I fixed her basket, she mentioned that she had never been to our store before but she was so thrilled I could help her. Designed a cute arrangement, boxed and out the door in 10 minutes.

Guess what, She just stopped by with her camera to show me her new greatgrandaughter and thank me again for the beautiful flowers, tell me how much the new Mom liked them and how much she appreciated my help.
[I think we both were a little teary eyed - new babies do that right...]. Gained a new customer

Doesn't get much better than that.

We get to laugh together with our customers, we get to cry with our customers........what more can you ask for, I so agree.

I think this is why most of us love this business.....it won't make us millionaires, but we will be rich with warm hearted stories in our retirement years....

My minister and I share a joke about our two professions: We are the only business where in the course of a day, We can Birth you, Marry you, Celebrate your birthday, Make your anniversary special, and Bury you.

I love my job the most when like you all, I can make that connection with my customer and the both of us....for a brief moment in time.....become joint travelers in time. And I firmly believe that our lives are richer for it.
