Wonder what this week will bring?

Got up Sat 6 am to a hissing sound , opened laundry room doors to see hot water tank was running water all over . I shut off all the valvs shut offs i could find then tore downstairs to shut main supply line off. Opened door into my shop to see the back half of the front of the store under water. I had to wait till 8 am to get ahold of insurance company as i didnt have their emergency number on the policy. Spoke to them then, they took all the info , said someone would call me asap. They did, said dont touch anything adjuster is on the way. He got here about 930 am, took pics etc. said don't touch anything crew is on the way they will take care of things. Called my plumber he came right away took old tank out and put the new spare we had in.Crew arrived extracted waterfrom carpet, brought in 5 huge fans and monster dehumidifier. Part of the ceiling is destroyed , lights, and fan , as water was pouring through them. Carpet dreid but it has lost all colour and is badley stained. They are to be here this am to assess all damages and start to work. We are gonna do the best we can to remain open , will maybe have to have customers come to the back of the store, not sure yet , But hopefully they acn get us back up and running as quickly as possible . Just hope its done soon

Oh the good old water tank problem.

FOr me several years ago at home, our washer hose let go.
Drain was plugged by a carpet and went all over the basement.

THis happen the thursday before mother's day, which I really did not need it to happen.

Anyway I am glad your insurance is quick to respond. THat alone mean something especially on a weekend.

Been there too.

One day Mom and I came in from running errands and when we went to the kitchen to unload groceries, we heard this gurgling sound coming from the washer/dryer area. I walked over to see if a hose was loose.....no.....Well, the hot water heater is located behind the washer/dryer area....so I went there....Lo and Behold, the floor had given way and the water heater had gone throught the floor !!!!!

Here I go at full run over a stony/rocky area to get to the water tap to immediately shut off the water. Stone bruises on the soles of my feet for days.....hurt like heck.

Ran to the electrical box and cut the power to reduce threat of fire, got on the cell, called a repairman friend.......Well, after about 5 hours time........new water heater replace, floor re-done and repaired, all is right as rain.

and things just get better!!

Had the cops here this am, finally, we had our building spray painted on the weekend also. So he has come to give me a report number for the insurance. So i called insurance company and have been told if you make a claim as you already have one in place this week and your deductible is a 1000.00, And you file ANOTHER CLAIM they probably will cancel your insurance. W.T.F. Do i pay insurance for .. Dammit all im really getting pissed now. Cop would not give me their names as they are first time offenders and they are 18 and 19 yrs old. Hell let the little @@@@s come and paint my building over the damage they did.
I think i am gonna close for the day , take phone up with me. The sound of 5 huge fans and dehumidifier is deafening .

Fight for your rights.
Talk to the girls at Mann's In sault Ste Marie. THey been working with insurance companies for 3 years now on different claims. Ask them about insurance issues.

As for the police. Get the freaking name of those kids. I do not care if it is their first offence, (first time being caught) at that age they know the difference between right and wrong. I would sue both of them through small claim (if you do not want to use the insurance) for the total price of re painting the area they did. Get several quote and go after them. I will even represent you in court for FREE to help nail their Ass*es .

Oh Joanne, I am so sorry for what you're going through. Tell the police you want to press charges against the kids who did this, and that you might be persuaded to change your mind if they make restitution by doing the painting themselves.

We got graffitied a few months back as well. Cops were thrilled to catch the offenders, and the officer was nice enough to let me know once they had filed the paperwork on their end. Then, all I had to do was go to the cop shop and request a copy, since it is public record...and there were the names. We didn't file an insurance claim, but I did speak to my friend, the judge, who ordered the community service to include painting over their artistry. Thankfully for me, it was an easy cover. I hope yours turns out equally as well.
