Would somebody tell FTD.con to quit leaning on the $39.99 key

Blaming the wrong "guy"

When you receive an order from FTD it was not FTD that chose the product, the consumer did.

I believe that this is just one more sign that the consumer is looking for value and will go where they find it.

Now before someone points out that "its FTD's fault for putting these price points first and foremost on there home page". Think it through

FTD (like all of us) is in a VERY competitive market, and like all of us they have NO direct control over what or where the consumer chooses to purchase. They simply take their best shot and hope its the right one for the consumer and that they get the sale rather than a competitor (Proflowers, 800 Flowers).

Sure FTD could place the wishes of their member fulfiller's for higher price points before good common marketing sense. That would definitely stop wasting your paper as the orders would stop, unless of course you also fill for Proflowers or 800Flowers.

I would suggest a much simpler solution, just stop receiving orders if you don't like the price point rather than @@@@@ about the individual or company sending them to you. Remember, just like the consumer you have a choice.

Doug, you've been around the biz long enough to know that consumer also paid a $14.95 or so service fee; which dotcon will only pass along to the florists if dotcom is in a jam. I offer arrangements for pricepoints down to 24.99 but I do get a delivery charge from customers.

Hey, you're in FAT CITY George! lol

getting tired of having these eat up our time and paper

That $39.99 SRP is some serious money for a floral arrangement these days George.

Let's run the numbers.

The DOT.CON earns a full 30% commission plus their $14.95 SC for a whopping $26.95 in their coffers.

The FILLER nets $28.00 (-30%) less your cost of delivery (another $10 in WS wampum) leaving you a whole $18.00 to work with while replicating their $39.99 (SRP sweet spot) image.

You gots a COGs of $12.00 on the $39.99, throw in YOUR FREE LABOR, and you've managed to put a whole $6.00 in your wallet in 45 days or so.

That's a MARGINAL contribution to your operating costs so what's the problem George? After all, it's the consumers who are making those price point decisions, albeit through a third party middleman floral order gatherer intercepting the 100% sales and SCs from YOU, thus skimming all the gravy, ey?

In fact, based on their features and benefits, I don't think the dues and fees you are paying them, and in order to steal your customer's sales out from under you, is high enough. They deserve even more George.

If I've helped to clear up the smoke and mirror WS wampum myth a wee bit, you'll be sending me that recipe for Maryland Crab Cakes soon, RIGHT?
lol
