Would you like me to promote Flowerchat or is it better if I don't?

Hello everyone,

I am in the process of completely redesigning our website. I am working on making the website much more educational for florists, gift basket designers, interior designers, event planners, etc. I want our site to a place to learn, not just shop. As part of this redesign, I am creating a page of Reference Links for our customers. In my short time as a Flowerchat member I found it to be a great resource, and I had planned to promote it in the Reference Links section.

My question is this, do you Flowerchat members WANT more members? Do you want this site promoted? There has been some discussion about who should be permitted to be Flowerchat members. Some of the traffic that will be sent will envitably be florists who are members of wire services or florists/event designers who work from their homes...

I can always post a disclaimer that membership is not automatically accepted and it is up to the moderators of Flowerchat whether a florist will be accepted, and that Pioneer Wholesale has nothing to do with the acceptance process (I will word it more professionally, I am going of the cuff here.)

But I just want to make sure that I will not be upsetting the apple cart by promoting this site...

Please let me know what you think.

yes, you can win FC casino cash!$$$$$$$$$$:boggles:

I never have understood Casino Cash... never spent the time trying to figure it out... Guess I will have to now!:>

But thank you all for your input.

Sarah,
Does your website require a tax ID or re-seller's license for purchasing?
If so, then I agree with everyone above.

If not, then I discourage it - we do not need people per se ... we need professionals, whether home based or brick & mortar. I only ask because some online wholesale companies don't specifically sell to only those with a re-sale license/tax id.

Just my own humble opinion, please don't take offense.

thanks!

Tracy,

No offense taken!

We require a tax resale number to PURCHASE, however we do not require one to look at our website. We try to balance things out - we want professionals who come across our website at 11 pm to be able to see our products without having to wait until morning to call us for a login. Therefore, some people view our website. However, when any one purchases, either online or over the phone, we require that they give us their tax resale number.

On every page of our website we explain that we sell only to established businesses. We don't want to sell retail. We have spent 30 years establishing relationships with our customers, we don't want to undercut them and ruin those relationships. Nor do we want to take the time to pack a $20 order for someone's wedding. (And after spending some time on Flowerchat, I am so grateful I am not the one dealing with all these brides!)

I have a personal pet peeve about all of these "Wholesale to the Public" wholesalers. That's not wholesale!! That's retail!! It is one of my missions in life - to educate florists, designers, etc. about the difference. Of course I am not getting very far... :)

I will make it extra clear on the disclaimer. Thanks.

Hooray for you! Wish our wholesalers here had the same attitude.
