yesterday (Sunday) on our way home from delivering to the race track, we passes by an open house sign, for one of the oldest homes in Dundas, and have always been curious about it, it's history, and what it looked like so,
We went back during the open house, and hundreds of other people obviously shared our curiosity!!
The house has truly stood, practically unchanged, for 200 years, small minor updates to make the home "legal",but, literally FILLED with things collected over many generations of inhabitants, and the grounds were in complete dis-array, since the last remaining descendants were obviously too old to properly maintain the place, but, there was a "semblance" of order within the house, besides the fact that they were ALL packrats!!
There is museum quality "everything" in this house, and stuff that I've NEVER seen before, and though well used, NOT AT ALL rusty, broken, spoiled, or otherwise "infectious", and we came across an old ad, from June 1930, that indicated that ED SMITH (a well known fruit/jam processor) in Stoney Creek, started out as a flower business, and had an old location at 213 Bloor Street East, in Toronto, and that EVERYTHING had to "ship" through our Town of Dundas.
I thought you guys & gals may have some interest.......
